THIS year has been a remarkable one for the Charolais breed and the beef industry as a whole. Record-high prices and the industry’s growing demand for performance and heavyweight carcasses highlight the unique advantages that Charolais cattle offer. Known for their exceptional versatility and performance, the Charolais breed is uniquely equipped to deliver real-world profitability increased, highquality pounds.

Even with record prices, high inputs costs are still a relevant part of beef producer profitability. The current state of the beef industry is centered on doing more with less. Our membership is committed to creating industry-relevant genetics that perform all throughout the beef chain. Alongside our members, AICA is dedicated to providing the tools and marketing opportunities that foster success for Charolais breeders and bull buyers. With a strong emphasis on data and innovation, we are excited to offer new options and options that will drive success across the beef industry. We have seen a surge in the demand for registered Charolais females as new breeders continue to join our ranks. We welcome everyone to be part of this dynamic breed, and are excited to watch it grow. This sale presents an incredible opportunity to acquire valuable genetics that will lead both the Charolais breed and the broader beef industry forward. The consignors have brought forward their finest genetics, and we are confident that your investments made here will bring success. See you at the sale,

WELCOME

to the 46th National Sale, hosted at the historic National Western Stock Show. It is once again a distinct pleasure to assist the American-International Charolais Association in presenting this tremendous offering. In my opinion the Charolais breed is preparing to enter an era of unprecedented growth and advancement. We are extremely fortunate to have leadership in place that can help us navigate a fast paced industry and create a roadmap for extended success. The future begins now.

I truly believe that this offering will serve as the base for future success. No matter if your operation focuses more on performance cattle or the show ring, the genetics in this event will propel your operation forward into the future. As you page through the catalog you will find lots that are on the cutting edge for EPD’s and performance, lots that are backed by multiple generations of maternal excellence, and lots that are on the upper echelon of the show industry. Rest assured that these lots represent the best that the breed has to offer.

I would like to extend a big thank you to the AICA office and field staff for their assistance in preparing for this event. If myself or any of the staff members can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

See you at the sale, Colt Keffer

BOY HL Lilo 350L

Selling:

One IVF cycle guaranteeing a minimum of 6 transferable embryos with two confirmed 90 day pregnancies.

What the Charolais breed has been able to accomplish over the past few years is phenomenal, however it is my firm belief that what they will achieve going forward will be unparalleled. Evidence to that theory was just exposed at the recent North American with BOY HL Lilo 350L capturing the inaugural Supreme Overall Open Female crown. This female didn’t catch lighting in a bottle in Louisville, she has been stacking up the wins all year. Calf Champion at the 2024 NWSS, both junior and open, Iowa Beef Expo Champion Charolais, Division Champion at the Junior National, Supreme Champion at the Iowa State Fair on top of being named 4th Overall Junior Heifer in Louisville. What 350L has accomplished individually is further reinforced by her prolific dam. BOY Smokin Monte 7311 is one of the hottest donors of any breed and she looks to keep gaining steam. She is the dam of BOY HL Lola 314L, Reserve Grand Junior Heifer at the 2024 NAILE as well as Grand Bred & Owned and Third Overall Owned at the 2024 Junior National. She also produced BOY Smokin Monte 200J, Grand Champion Open Female at the 2023 NAILE, and BOY Kelly 238K, Reserve Female at that same show as well as the 2023 American Royal. Lilo’s proven track record in tandem with her dams established production record makes her a future cornerstone of the breed.

Lot 6 choice of bred heifers

LG Herndon Jr. Farms is on an upward trajectory unlike many other operations in the business. Their general acquisitions over the past few years have led to a bull sale that will be one of the highest averaging sales in the breed. Their goal is to not only continue to grow, but constantly refine the quality of the product that they produce. In the Spring of 2024, they added former AICA Fieldman Floyd Wampler to their staff, this move gave them decades of invaluable Charolais knowledge and has only propelled them further forward. We look forward to this programs growth and dedication to the Charolais breed. In the 46th National Sale they are going to offer Choice of Bred Heifers all produced from donor cows. This choice will consist of both ET and natural born females by the donors that were acquired through the Ankony purchase. Choice of Bred Heifers

Schurrtop Ranch uses the slogan “The Best of Modern Net Profit Genetics”, and in today’s carcass driven era, fueled by thin margins those words are of greater importance. The genetics produced by Schurrtop are backed by 40+ years of feed efficiency testing as well as 50+ years of carcass, gain and performance data. With this data they have been able to prove that you can have muscle and marbling all in one package. Recently a group of 3,151 head that were 100% Schurrtop sired were harvested. That group graded 99% Choice or higher with 32% Prime and cut with an average 14.4” eye to yield 2.8. Results like that posted an average of $100 per head premium. These are real world, income generating statistics that everyone who is in the Charolais business should pay attention to.

This choice lot has been well received over the past few years and we look forward to having the Schurr’s back again this year. You will have the chance to select from around 80 head of bred heifers, each one will be at the front end of the breed for growth and carcass genetics. As the Charolais breed continues to assert its foothold in the beef industry, genetics like these will become increasingly more important.

Selling:

Buyers choice of 100% interest in any bred heifer.

choice of fall show heifers

We are continuously searching for genetics and programs to add to the National Sale that are at the top of their game. Big House Show Cattle fits that qualifier perfectly. When Cody Beck approached them this summer at the Junior National about being a part of the event, they jumped at it and were in fact the first consignment to be confirmed for the 2025 sale. Braden and Nicole are generating high quality cattle that are racking up victories all over the nation. Their combination of elite level mating abilities and top notch customer service have drawn families to their program for many years and that trend will continue into the future.

Lot 9

Choice of the Female Herd

We welcome King Ranch back to the 46th National Sale with a lot that has been very popular over the last few years. The choice of the King Ranch female herd opens up an endless opportunity to select the next cornerstone cow for your operation. The King Ranch family has a rich history in the cattle industry and their entire cowherd, spanning Charolais, Angus and Hereford, is truly something to see. Bill, along with his daughter Becky and son-in-law Tom, are very astute breeders of cattle. The cattle on the King Ranch have to be able to hold up to the harsh conditions of east-central New Mexico, however they are bred without sacrificing eye appeal and performance.

Bill travels all over the country to procure top end herd sires to work in his herd. Over my many visits to the ranch I have been impressed with the influence of bloodlines from LT Ledger, LT Rushmore, RBM Fargo, LT Blue Value, TR Mr. Firewater and M&M Outsider. You will be able to select from over 200 head of cows, bred and open heifers. Many of these cattle have multiple generations of these bloodlines woven into their pedigrees. I can’t say enough about the quality of both the people and the cattle, the only thing I can say is that you need to experience this operation.

Selling:

Buyers choice of 100% interest in any female in the herd, or 50% of two females.

Lot 10 GSC Diamonds Shania 503 ET

GSC DIAMONDS SHANIA 503 ET

One of the most competitive females of the 2024 show season came right out of this sale last year. GSC Diamonds Shania 503 ET was selected by Kenidey Effling, Highmore, SD, and she has racked up the wins with her this year. Champion Charolais and Fifth Overall Female at the South Dakota Summer Spotlight, Champion Charolais at the South Dakota State Fair, both junior and open shows and Reserve Champion Junior Heifer at the American Royal. She will head into Denver and Fort Worth as one of the females to beat, without a doubt. With the amount of interest they have had in this female they have decided to bring her back to Denver and present her in the National Sale. Fans of this female have admired her for her overall quality of kind and build. She is impeccable in her foot quality and structural integrity, while still being powerfully built, massive through her center body, and striking from the side profile. It is very rare to be able to combine the tandem of structural quality and durable design that this one possesses. She is a very unique individual. The cattle sired by Force of Nature are becoming very popular, and we feel that this is one of his best daughters. Her dam, PZC Shine Like Diamonds 060 ET, is a Firewater x 0641 combination, which allows you a high degree of mating flexibility while still being backed up by high impact genetics. This female very well could be the next generation of legendary Charolais donors.

Selling: 50% Embryo interest with no possession

Lot 11

Choice of the 2022-2023 Females

Over the years one of the most consistent lots in the national sale has been the choice of the Hebbert Charolais herd. Time and again this selection is made by smart cattlemen that are looking to add a highly maternal, functional breeding piece. More often than not that female develops into a cornerstone cow or donor for the buyer. Over the years Lindskov’s LT Ranch has bought this choice lot, in their 2024 bull sale three sons of HC females averaged $9,000. This years selection will encompass the 2022 second calving females as well as the 2023 born first calvers, around 160 head in total to choose from. Matt & Lacy have added some stout herd sires over the past few years and those bulls make up the bulk of the sires for this group. LT Judge 0691 PLD, HC Blue Stone 0431, CCC Probity 9506 P, LT Rushmore 6033 PLD and CCC AD Astra 1027 P. If you are lucky enough to be the winning bidder of this lot, you will get the chance to experience great people who are dedicated to their herd and continue to breed consistency and quality in volume.

Selling:

Buyers choice of any 2022 or 2023 born female. Seller respectfully requests your selection be made by May 15th, 2025.

Lot 12 choice of heifer pen

FIRES CARBINE 414M

Fires Carbine 414M – This female blends the Starstruck and Carbine donor cows into a beautiful, powerfully constructed package. Two of the most impactful matrons in the breed, on either side of the border. 414M’s Badge sired dam is an up and coming donor for Three Fires.

FIRES STEALTH 416M

Fires Stealth 416M – With the newly installed P&G Show at the 2025 Junior National, this female should be one of the front runners. With 10 traits in the top one-third of the breed in combination with a stunning side profile, we believe she can compete at a high level and then become a highly productive dual purpose donor.

FIRES STARTING 419M

Fires Starting 419M – Study the bottom side of the is pedigree and you will see that this heifer goes back to LJR Ms. Just A Starting 2376E ET, past American Royal Supreme Champion and AICA Show Heifer of the Year. Sired by SVY Profound, 419M has as much cow power in her pedigree as anything they have to offer.

This pen of heifers is a true testament to what this herd can produce. Study the pedigrees and you will see many of the breeds leading sires and donors stacked into multiple generations.

Selling:

100% interest in buyers choice of one heifer.

Lot 13

Choice of Bred Heifers

It is a privilege to once again offer the choice of the entire bred heifer crop from the Zehnder Waage Partnership herd. When it comes to the pen show in Denver, few operations have had as much success as the ZW brand. In 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 they have been named either Champion or Reserve in the Pen of Five or Pen of Three Shows. In my opinion this is one of the most diverse and relevant herds in the breed. Chad, Ryan and Ross have built a herd that is able to check all the boxes in terms of cattle that have the ability to perform in the pasture and the feedlot, offer tremendous maternal strength, and still have plenty of calving ease. They have done this without sacrificing eye appeal and breeding flexibility. Many of their recent high selling bulls offer as much outcross ability as any set of herd sires on the market. This choice will consist of 34 head from the top cut of bred heifers. Included for you appraisal will be a full sister to the $51,000 WDZ Great Divide 2071 and four full sisters to the $60,000 WDZ Aerosmith 1109 PLD. These heifers will carry the service of WDZ Icon 2048, WDZ Warroad 906, GHC Reagan and LT Rushmore. I truly believe that the Zehnder Waage program has as much to offer the breed as any herd in the nation, take advantage of this opportunity to access high caliber genetics.

Selling:

Buyers choice of 100% interest in one bred heifer. Seller respectfully requests that the selection is made by April 15th, 2025. Seller reserves the right to one successful flush to be done at the sellers expense and the buyers convenience.

NGC Capitalist 118J

Selling: 50 units of semen in 5 unit packages. No other semen will be offered until June 1st, 2025.

The number one question any AICA fieldman or a person who is on my position gets asked is “What bulls should I be using?” And in today’s Charolais breed, that is a very tough question to answer. There is a bull within the population that breeders have identified as a “must use” sire, however the semen has been limited at best. Until now. NGC Capitalist 118J is one of those sires that has continued to excel through every evaluation, and breeders are clamoring to get their hands on semen. Being that Capitalist sold to Canada, there has never been a steady supply this side of the border. Capitalist has absolutely caused a stir in Canada with several sons and daughters being sale features for Circle Cee and Saddleridge. In the 2024 North Grove Sale a handful of daughters sold and averaged $10,000. His popularity has exploded over the recent months due to his exceptional EPD profile that ranks him within the top 6% of the breed for 11 different traits. This combined with his ability to transmit performance to his progeny as well as his eye appeal has made his influence a rare and valuable commodity. Not often does a bull come along with this much potential yet has still proven himself enough to validate the hype.

choice of bred & OPEN Females

Over the past several years J&J Trust has assembled one of the most formidable stables of donors in any breed, let alone the Charolais. Jon’s attention to detail and desire for quality has led to the acquisition of some of the breeds best cows. This selection has been a sale highlight for the past handful of years, this year we get to add an exciting twist. Not only are we selling choice of the open heifers, but we are also selling the choice of the bred heifers. Both groups are products of that same great core group of donor cows, and they will be sired by some of the breeds leading bulls. You will be able to choose from 30 open heifers and 25 bred females.

The bulk of either selection is made up of progeny from the following cows:

LT Brenda 8034 PLD – The $50,000 high selling female in the historic Grand Hills Dispersal. 8034 has produced 53 registered progeny including the famed LT Brenda 2184 PLD.

LT Ballet 9219 PLD – 9219 is the dam of the LT Sundance 2251 PLD, LT Venture 3198 PLD, and LT Commissioner 5232 PLD, among 29 other progeny.

M&M Ms. Carbine 1567 PLD – Carbine’s most famous son is M&M Outsider 4003 PLD. However, of her 247 total reported progeny many of them have been high sellers and have now produced at a high level themselves.

LT Brenda 3357 PLD – The newest addition to J&J’s donor lineup is the dam of LT Inception 7456 PLD ET. 3357 is a Blue Value daughter out of LT Brenda 6120 PLD, the dam of LT Ledger 0332 , who is in the top 1% of the breed for Marbling.

choice of female herd

It is my firm belief that Prairie Valley Farms will be one of the best herds of cattle you will ever see, no matter the color. Period. Dave is a no-nonsense, down to earth cattle breeder that doesn’t get caught up in fads and, his cattle must be functional, sound structured, and good looking. The bulls have to perform, and the females have to be good mothers. For those of you that know Dave know that there is no grey area, it either works or it doesn’t.

Dave has always bought good herd bulls but over the past few years he has really stepped up his game. His lead sire is WCR Titan 061 P, he sired the $19,000 high selling bull from his 2024 Bull Sale that sold to Doll’s in North Dakota. The set of females that are sired by Titan are second to none, if I am spending the money, I buy one of these. Many of the younger cows and heifers are sired by either LT Judge 0619 PLD, a past LT sale feature owned with Hebbert Ranch, or WDZ Aerosmith 1109 PLD, the $60,000 high selling bull at the 2022 Zehnder Waage Bull Sale. Many of the cows are carrying the service of these bulls or of WDZ Great Divide 2071, the $51,000 sale feature at the 2023 Zehnder Waage sale. Prairie Valley Farms is a first time consigner to the National Sale and after the buyer steps into this herd I believe word will spread about the quality of this program.

Choice of the Female Herd

We welcome JMAR Genetics to the National Sale for the first time, and we are extremely excited for their consignment. Very few programs have experienced the success that JMAR has seen over the past several years. Jim has been fortunate enough to produce breed leading herd sires like JMAR Benaiah 1E66, JMAR Jefferson 8M11, JMAR Joshua 23M11, JMAR Jubal 5P01 and JMAR Kinsman 3J82, just to name a few. This choice lot will feature daughters as well as full and maternal sisters to these bulls. Many daughters will sell by a past donor for JMAR, JMAR Ms. Doubt 3E27. One example of a female that is up for your consideration is JMAR Ms. Silver 14M11. This is a Monticello daughter by DCR Ms. Silver Led F136, the dam of Jefferson and Joshua. Her EPD profile features 9 different traits within the top 10% of the breed. As a whole 18 females rank in the top 1% or 2% for TSI with every female being within the top 7%, and 80% of the offering will have feed efficiency data on file.. JMAR is a fully fall calving herd that will allow you the opportunity at a three in one package if selected before April 1st. The entire sale committee believes that this is a great offering that is right for the times and can be an instant income generator.

Choice of Bred Heifers

The crew at NextGen Cattle has built a program that has everyone in the beef industry buzzing. Their business like approach to the purebred cattle industry has laid the groundwork for sustained success in the future. With the addition of Joe Epperly as their Chief Genetics Officer, NextGen will continue to build their Charolais program to rival any in the industry. Joe and I sat down this summer to discuss their involvement in this years national sale, and I wanted to do something that would not only highlight their program but allow the buyer to take advantage of NextGen’s bull market while still developing their own herd. Joe and I arrived at selling the choice of the entire NG bred heifer inventory. We decided on this lot for multiple reasons. First, these would be some of the freshest genetics in the program. Second, it allows the buyer the opportunity for a quicker return on investment as they are due to calve in the spring and can be flushed right away. Third, we felt that this group of heifers was right for the times as they blend excellent EPD profiles with phenotype and pedigree depth. That being said, I feel that this lot is perfectly tailored for a breeder that wants to take the next step into the future, or for a prospective newcomer to the breed. If you are the winning bidder, make sure to talk to the guys about a future partnership and running the future offspring back through NG sales.

Selling:

Buyers option of 100% interest in one or 50% in two spring 2023 born bred heifers.

BRCHE MCC Sister Ellen 4601 ET

BRCHE MCC SISTER ELLEN 4601 ET

We are fortunate to once again welcome Bertsche Cattle to the national sale with an outstanding open heifer. BRCHE MCC Sister Ellen 4601 ET is an April born prospect that will be a standout in that division. 4601 is sired by LDSC BRCHE Luscious 1701, a Resource son out of the great Jojo donor. Her dam, BRCHE MCC Sister Act 0504 PLD ET, is a full sister to none other than BRCHE TR Dory 6501. This past fall we sold a full sister to this mating for $6,750 and a year earlier a maternal sister commanded $10,750 in the Bertsche online sale. This female is cut from the same cloth as her elite siblings. The fact that her pedigree is bolstered by multiple generations of purple ribbon genetics, we feel that Sister Ellen will be one of the very best heifers to sell all year. This is the kind of female that will only get better with age. We understand that a lot of great cattle have sold already but do not overlook this incredible show heifer prospect.

Selling:

100% interest, seller will retain the right to two flushes to be done at the sellers expense and the buyers convenience.

M6 Ms. New Germaine 484

Selling:

A) One IVF Cycle with a minimum of 6 transferable embryos and no cap. Cycle will be done at a Trans Ova satellite center and can be made exportable if CSS semen is provided.

B) Buyers choice of one heifer or bull calf pregnancy, sired by LT Patriot 4004 PLD, due March 17, 2025.

A true test for a great donor cow is how she continues to evolve herself and lasts throughout the years. M6 Ms. New Germaine 484 P is not young in the literal sense; however, she is just coming into her prime as a very impactful donor. From when she first entered her career as a donor until now, her progeny has consistently risen to the top of whatever event they are featured in. 484 is the dam of GHC Germaine 9031 who sold for $16,000 to J&J Trust in the historic Grand Hills Dispersal. She also produced CCR GHC Grandview 9032, a past Grand Hills Bull Sale feature that is now a leading AI sire for JMAR Genetics. In the River City Collection Sale her progeny were focal points that featured the $65,000 valued Carr’s Ms. Germaine 202 P ET, the $32,000 WIA-CCR Valhalla 3123 P, and the $20,000 WIA Ms. Bold Germaine 3116 P. To further bolster her track record, she also produced the Select Sires featured sire SVY Historic 241K and a $85,000 full sister SVY Ms. Germaine 236K.

AIJCA Junior national donation lots

When making the trip to Double-H Charolais in Paynesville, Minnesota, visitors have been greeted by this fiberglass bull for over 45 years. Harlin and the late Sue Hecht have been long-time leaders in the breed – from raising the very first AICA Dam of Distinction, countless years serving and attending the AICA Board of Director meetings and earning a place in the AICA Hall of Fame. Harlin, Sue and their three sons, Howard, Mark and Dale, have diligently supported the AIJCA and raised their family through the program. Since the Double-H herd dispersal, Harlin and the family have chosen to donate this fiberglass bull to the American-International Junior Charolais Association scholarship fund to award a Harlin & Sue Hecht scholarship annually. Harlin states, “Our three sons have benefitted greatly from this program and now our grandkids are taking advantage of these scholarships as well.”

When asked how he obtained this unique, life-size fiberglass bull, Harlin shares, “About 45 years ago Sue and I and a couple friends were showing our Charolais cattle in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We found this bull in the lobby of the hotel we were staying at. I sought out the owner and found that he had a mold for this and was selling them. In fact, this bull has a #13 tattooed in his ear as he was the 13th one made. The owner said he would leave him in the lobby until the next morning when I was leaving.

I got up the next morning and went to the lobby. The bull was gone. I went to the front desk and was told some of my Canadian friends had been up late the night before and the bull had joined them on 6th floor. We went to 6th floor, and there he was. We tried to put him in the elevator…he didn’t fit. We tried the freight elevator…he didn’t fit there either. The only option left was the four of us who carried him down 6 flights of stairs. On the way down, we noticed that there were broken chandeliers all the way up the stairs.”

With a vision to endow the Harlin & Sue Hecht AIJCF Scholarship, this bull will be offered at auction. The Hecht family and the AIJCF welcome additional donations to reach the $20,000 scholarship endowment.
