Welcome to the 25th Anniversary Mader Ranches Bull and Female Sale! It is with great pride that we celebrate such a prestige event, and this year also marks the 40th year in the purebred cattle industry, for my mom and dad, Randy and Ronda. My wife, Jill and I would like to take a quick second to thank mom and dad for all the long and hard years they have put in, to make the family farm business, what it is today. As we mark the 25th anniversary, we also look ahead to the next 25 years! We feel our breeding program is as strong as it has ever been! Through and extensive AI and embryo program, proven herdbulls, a cowherd that works for us, and the family dynamics to show and promote our product and business, encourages that we will be here for many more years! I know that every year we probably say the bulls are better than everâ&#x20AC;Ś thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s because we are always working on improving our product! The set of bulls this year is more consistent, they maintain calving ease, however, through genetic selection our weaning and yearling weights are up. We have bred to produce softer made cattle that are easy keepers, and through harsh culling we have eliminated bulls for docility, structure, and lack of performance issues. We are confident that we have a bull to fit all needs, and would love to take the time to go through them with you and find a bull(s) that meets your demands. There is no room in the cattle industry for the weaker links. Whether a cow/calf producer, a feedlot, or a packing plant, we have all started to come together to produce a more uniform and high-quality product, that makes ,and will continue to forefront the Canadian beef market, worldwide. We breed and develop these bulls and females at a growing pace. We do not feed our breeding stock to finish them, and we really strive on keeping them sound and functional. The bulls and females are developed on a high forage ration, and are kept in big pens for exercise. Bulls are our business, and you can feel confident in your purchases. We will work very hard to earn your business but even harder to keep it. From one cattleman to another, you can put your trust in us, as we are not only working for you, but we are also working with you in the livestock industry. We are a family operation and the same people you will discuss your bull needs with, are the same people that do the day to day operations on the farm. If you happen to have any issue with a purchase, we want to be the first to hear about it. We will do our utmost to create a win-win with all of our customers. There will be approx 90 bulls and 10 heifers on offer. We run two calving seasons both in Jan-Feb and July-Sept. The idea is to spread out our workload, but also to offer these great extra-age bulls that will cover more cows. Our program is generated around adding more thickness, more performance, and more natural fleshing ability, and we really strive on great calving ease, low birth weights and quiet dispositions. This means less management come calving time, and more dollars in your jeans on pay day! With that, we need cows that will stay productive in the herd for years... with problem free udders, feet and legs, and fertility. Our cows are not pampered! They graze for 8 months of the year and never receive any grain. We are once again very pleased to have Diamond T Cattle Co. and Pearson Simmentals joining us with a great set of Red and Black Angus and Simmental bulls. They are tremendous cattle people, and have been great friends for years. Bohrson Marketing will be our sales consultant again this year. We really admire the cattle knowledge, confidentiality, and honesty, that Scott and his team possesses, and we are happy to have them working with us. We would like to take the time to thank everyone who either purchased or bid on Mader cattle over the past year, and to all the people who help out throughout the year to make our operation run smoothly. We feel this move will be better for the cattle, give us more time to visit with you, our customers, and personalize our relationship a bit better. The bulls and heifers will be penned at the farm 1 week in advance, so please stop in anytime for viewing. If you are unable to attend the sale, we would love to tour you through the bulls whenever it works for you from now until sale day, and through ourselves, our sales team, and liveauctions.tv, we will be able to assist you in bidding. On February 13 there will be viewing all day, and please join us for supper and refreshments to follow. Mader Extra Age Simmental Bulls As our winters continue to be full of snow and fluctuation of temperatures, we have slowly started increasing our summer/fall calving numbers! We have shortened our spring breeding season to 50-60 days. Once March 1 arrives, we have completed our calving and are switching gears to the next project! With such a short breeding season in the spring, struggle to conceive for some cows while trying to raise a big calf through tough conditions, is appropriate. By allowing those females a little time to develop more and breed in the summer/fall program, we have created a win-win for ourselves. It gives the cows a chance to bounce back, regain body condition, and create a new venue for us. If a cow misses breeding in both calving seasons, she is gone! The goal around building our summer/fall calving period was to create these extra-age bulls. They are more mature at time of breeding for our customers, therefore find less struggles to figure it out, breed more cows, and hold their body condition. We want to be able to cover all the needs of our customers, and by having both yearling and extra-age bulls, we hope we are doing so. Very little management is needed in this program as cows calve on warm days, on green grass, and health concerns are very minimal. As I said, these bulls are calved out from mid July to mid September, which is also a 60 day breeding season, they are on their dams on swath grazing until early March, and are than weaned. They get no extra pampering through the winter months, and are than weaned onto barley silage in the feedlot to help them grow and so we can walk the pens. Come mid May, these bulls are on grass all the way until mid September, when we bring them in to start on test. For the most part, these bulls are grown at their own pace to insure longevity. Look to this section of bulls if you are wanting to increase your cow to bull ratio, or if you are wanting a bull with a little extra age and maturity.

A true breeding masterpiece! Mulberry 30X was purchased from Brylor Ranch in the spring of 2011 for his stout bone work, powerful constructiveness and added performance and dimension. With breed legends like Mulberry, Zama Pine and Rambo we knew his progeny would exhibit the same hard working, easy fleshing characteristics. This herdbull is in the top 4% of the entire Red Angus breed for WW, the top 1% for YW and the top 15% for TM. He has a YW index of 130 and his bull calf crop over two breeding seasons averaged 88 lbs at birth while his heifer calves calved out at an 81 lb average. PP In the fall of 2008 we acquired 22 embryos from Fleming Stock Farm off one of their great donor cows Fleming 203 Maureen. WE purchased these cause at the time we felt she was decades ahead of her time in terms of mass, rib shape and maternal cow power. Over the next four years we would implant that package and sell full sibs to reputable seedstock operations like Kendle & Michelle Boyer, Erdman Ranch, Fleming Stock Farm, and Blairs.Ag. Welcome to the 25th anniversary edition of the Mader Ranches Bull Sale! First off we would like to congratulate Randy and Ronda and their family on 25 fantastic years of marketing bulls! That statement alone says what commitment and dedication this family has made to keeping our cattle industry strong. Our family farm is located northwest of Calmar where we calve out 100 Purebred Simmental cows mainly in January and February. When spring comes we switch our focus to the cropping part of the operation. Each year we grow a combination of wheat, barley and canola, as well as custom grain clean and seed for several neighbours. Duncan and Ashley are now the 5th generation of the Pearson family to produce food for a hungry world. All of our bulls are raised at home on the farm.
