PRESIDENT’S WELCOME Welcome to the 2015-2016 Junior League year! The new League year is off to a great start. Thank you to Nominating and Placement for their hard work in placing the 2015-2016 Leadership Team.

The Leadership Team has hit the ground running! We have a great group of women who are already active in leading this organization to achieve the best League year possible.

We have exciting projects to embark on, anniversaries to celebrate and lasting civic impressions to make. This year I hope that you will challenge yourself to exemplify the mission and vision of our League by: • Renewing your commitment to volunteer work within the League.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

CLEANING YOUR CLOSETS?

WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE NEW MEMBER CLASS OF 2015!

Winnowing out what you won’t be wearing this Fall?

My Sisters Closet at the YWCA is looking for Fall work casual/business clothing.

So clean out your closets and bring items to the September GMM. We will then deliver them to the Burt Street YWCA residence.

A warm welcome goes out to each of these ladies.

We are excited to have you join The Junior League of Syracuse!

Let’s start off our year helping the women in our community who need a professional wardrobe for reentering the workforce.

The clothing in My Sister’s Closet is professional work attire. For example, clothes one might wear on an interview or to a professional job. Although you can donate any type of clothing, only professional clothing is available in the “closet”.

Appreciated items are: • professional (cleaned) women’s clothing, especially sizes 12 and up • scarves, jewelry • shoes • purses • pantyhose • new make-up • shopping bags with handles 2015-16 UPDATE The Community Collaborations Committee will be offering a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the JLS year.

ANNUAL DINNER/JUNE GMM Thank you to everyone who attended the 20142015 League Annual Dinner and the June GMM! We were proud to celebrate our Spirit of Mary Harriman winner Mary Jewell Mathews at this event.

KUDOS! Lise Marcinkowski, President of the Everson Docent Organization, was named to the Board of Directors of the Everson Museum of Art. Congratulations to Julianna Hebert on the birth of her daughter, Norah Mary, on July 16th.

Congratulations to Audra Mueller on the birth of her son, Conor William Mueller, on July 13th.

Sustainer Aminy Audi, CEO & Chair, L. & J.G. Stickley, is now a member of the prestigious American Furnishings Hall of Fame! Aminy will be inducted in October at banquet & ceremony in Greensboro, NC. Congratulations to Rachel Ford on the birth of her son, Edward William Ciotti, on August 12.

MEETING BRIEFS June GMM: The Junior League of Syracuse General Membership Meeting (GMM) was held at the Double Tree Hotel in East Syracuse, NY. President Jenny Jackson Donahoe called the meeting to order at 8:11 p.m.

The Mission & Vision was read by Cathy Dotterer.

Election of 2015-2016 Board & Leadership Team – Liz Lane.

• A motion was made to accept leadership nominations. The motion was passed.

The approval of the May 2015 GMM minutes were approved as submitted – Katie Corbishley.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: 2015 Holiday Shoppes – Juliana Hebert & Marissa Montreal.

• This year is the 20th Anniversary of Holiday Shoppes.

• This year’s dates are November 13th, 14th, & 15th.

Membership Recruitment – Rachel Ford & Hillary Reichel.

• New postcards have been created to send out to possible new members.

• Look for upcoming recruitment events.

ByLaws Changes & Holiday Shoppes Requirements Vote – Liz Lane & Liz Baker.
