Sustainer NEWS Happy New Year! Although the next few months are cold and likely dreary, we have plenty to be thankful for and much to look forward to… Many thanks to Sheila Corbishley for coordinating our Annual Pie Making Event! It was a great success (see side article). The last issue of the NOTES had an article about nomination submissions for the Mary Harriman Award. To date, I have not received any nominations; therefore, I encourage you to talk amongst yourselves and submit a few names to be considered. You all know how meaningful this award is, so let’s be sure to give it our sincere attention now to ensure a successful outcome. I will be forming a committee in January to help with the process. Please email me your thoughts. The Mary Harriman Award nomination application is available on the JLS Facebook page and emailed out in a blast. In the past we have held Sustainer Sectionals in February. If there is interest, we could do this again. Please let me know if you would like to host and/or have an idea for a Sectional. It’s also time to begin thinking about our Spring Cocktail Party! Would you consider hosting this fun event at your home? Are you interested in serving on a cocktail party committee to help out the hostess? I would love to hear from you!

ANNUAL Pie MAking

Twenty-five Sustainers kicked off the Holiday season with their Annual Pie Making gathering at Blessed Sacrament Church Parish Center. Fifty seven apple pies were made and delivered to the Rescue Mission. Joining in the “flour fun” were Heather Wallace and Jenny Donahoe which was much appreciated. Special thanks are extended to Fr. Peter Reddick, pastor of Blessed Sacrament, for his support and use of his facility. Thank you to Martha Tooley, Barbara Stratton, and Peggy Fabic for their assistance with shopping, setup and cleanup. Katie Corbishley and Martha Tooley volunteered to assist with the delivery of the pies following the event. Thank you to all our Sustainers for the team effort.
