The Junior League of Portland, Maine is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
This year, our League embraced the theme Building Relationships and I’m proud to say we truly lived it. We reconnected with our mission, strengthened internal bonds, and reestablished ties with the greater Portland community. These relationships laid the foundation for our impact and the momentum we now carry into the future.
A major milestone was the launch of our new Community Impact Issue Area: Mental Health and Wellness. This focus guided both our service and how we support each other as members. We redesigned our General Membership Meetings to emphasize Connection, Training, and Wellness, and our volunteer efforts reflected a range of needs from supporting grief services and maternal wellness to addressing food insecurity and senior isolation. Each effort underscored our belief that mental health is a shared responsibility—and a League priority.
We also made meaningful internal progress We reintroduced member requirements to foster engagement and accountability, launched a new orientation curriculum to support incoming members, improved communication through consistent newsletters, and raised over $5,000 through fundraising efforts. These wins reflect the power of clear priorities and committed leadership even in a small but mighty League like ours
None of this would have been possible without our 150+ members an extraordinary group of women whose passion, dedication, and leadership fuel our success. Your commitment to service and belief in our mission ensure we continue to grow our impact and legacy
As I begin my second year as President, I’m honored and energized by what lies ahead. Together, we lead change—with heart, intention, and purpose.
Yours in service,
Jenney Pantenburg
