A Note from the President...
Dear Volunteers,
September has arrived and the League is in full swing. I am looking forward as we all get prepared for Thrift Sale, Charity Ball and making the most of our placements. It looks as though it will be a fabulous year filled with new ideas, grand traditions and memories for each of us and those we serve.
The summer has been busy. Many of you have completed your 40 hour placements. We appreciate your hard work on the League’s behalf. Our fundraising committees have been working all summer getting ready for Thrift Sale in October and Charity Ball in December. If you have any questions about either of these please contact Faith Ledford, Kelly Lee, Lindsay Wells or Chastity Nix.
Faith Ledford has been very busy this summer co-chairing Thrift Sale, planning a fall wedding and overseeing our new web site! Last year the board of directors agreed to update the League’s web site and make it more user friendly. I think you will be very excited when you see it. Abig thank you to Faith, Bethany Sauls and Katie Dubnik. We will be unveiling our web site at the September League meeting.
Don’t forget that the September meeting will be at the Northeast Georgia History Center. It is a beautiful venue with plenty of room for all of us. Brooke Kalinauskas’hospitality committee will be hosting our traditional Salad Supper. At this meeting, Robyn Lynch, placement chair, is asking that everyone take this opportunity to have dinner with your placement advisor. This will give you a chance to put a face with a name and bring up any questions or concerns about your placement. Everything begins at 6:30 p.m. and we will be finished by 8:00 p.m. There is always a lot of information at the September meeting, so please plan to attend. After our meeting, Lynn Carter, the member representative, has planned a social in the lobby of the Burd Center just across the street. All active, provisional and sustainer members are invited, and we expect to have a great time getting to know one another better.
We all have such busy lives. I enjoy these moments when we are able to get together, plan for our community’s future, change people’s lives and share it all with good friends. Let’s never forget our reason for being a part of this international organization. We are here because we are committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community. Let’s be sure to enjoy every minute of it!

Important Reminders:
League members must bring in a Quota of $150.00 of “Thrift Sale Priced” merchandise to the Georgia Mountains Center between Sunday, September30th and Tuesday, October2nd. All Quota must be priced with a Sharpie on masking tape using the price guidelines (from the Thrift Sale packet received at May Luncheon), and put away by the 8:00 p.m. deadline on Tuesday, October 2nd. Please bring a minimum of 10 bags and 3 boxes with your Quota.
No books or stuffed animals and nothing priced under $.25!
The annual competition for PRIZE GIRL is on! Clean out your house, and then call friends and family to see if they have any stuff to donate. Bring the largest amount of Quota and you will be awarded “PRIZE GIRL.”
If you put any of your Quota in the storage unit this summer, please remember to work 30 minutes extra during the general workshift putting away merchandise.

“One Rockin Sale” PREVIEWPARTYAND AUCTION is Thursday, October 4, 2007. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for double price shopping, dinner and silent auction. The live auction begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for non-members are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Junior League members’tickets (for you and a guest) are included in your dues but please RSVPto LeAnne Walters at the September General Membership meeting or call the League Office.

It is hard to believe that it is that time again. We are beginning a new League year that will provide endless opportunities to give back to the community. Time seems to pass quickly when you are doing positive things for others. An important part of our year involves our placements. I will be mentoring again this year and I look forward to getting started. This is truly a rewarding placement. It lets you see life through a different set of eyes. It is humbling and you feel the impact you are making. It has been a great experience for me and it is an awesome placement opportunity.
I would like to encourage each of you to make the most of your placement. Get an early start and take time to reflect upon the difference you are making in the community. We often get busy and lose sight of the positive impact we can have in our society. Our placements are a true reflection of who we are and our volunteer hours are needed and APPRECIATED! It is also a major part of our commitment to the League. In closing, I hope you all have an outstanding placement experience this year and I hope it leaves you with a smile on your face.

Over the summer months, these ladies have put their time and effort into our new digital program enabling the Gainesville-Hall County Jr. League to communicate more effectively.
Debbie is volunteering to work on not one, but two committees for the upcoming October Thrift Sale.
It’s perfect for family brunch and I always serve a variety of quiches for holiday morning meals. My family loves the spinach and swiss cheese flavor!! It’s quick and easy too, with the convenience of buying shredded swiss and deep dish pie crust at the grocery!
Welcome Back Social Kick off the year with a “Welcome Back Social.” All sustainers, provisionals and active members are invited to enjoy this opportunity to socialize.
