A Note from the President...

Dear Ladies, As I write this letter it saddens me to know that this is the last letter I will write to you as the President of the Junior League. I sometimes sit and think about my year as a provisional.

I never in a million years dreamed that I would stay in the League longer than seven years, let alone end up serving as President. Through the ups and downs with any large group of women, I have loved serving as your President.

As I said in my initial May Dinner Speech, “Attitude” is the key to any successful organization. I feel like this year myself along with the Board of Directors have continued to Baya Pruitt encourage each of you to be involved and to have a positive attitude. In anything we do, it is President always important to give our best! It takes lots of good eggs to make an impact but one bad egg can ruin the whole bunch! Thanks to each of you for being “good eggs” this year!

I want to thank the Board of Directors, the fundraising chairs, nominating, hospitality, and the assistants for all your hard work this year. I have loved getting to know each of you, and I know the friendships I have made will last a lifetime. I wish Dixie and the incoming board of directors the best of luck next year. I know that we will have another great year!

Placement Spotlight

Reminders: **Thrift Sale 2007**

Interactive Neighborhood for Kids is a children’s museum set up like a neighborhood with many different exhibits for children to explore. The museum encourages knowledge through creative and hands-on learning. As a volunteer, it is a joy to watch and help the many children who come to the museum each and every day. During the week, volunteers assist INK staff members with the many different school aged children who attend the museum on various field trips.

It is so much fun watching the children learn by exploring the different areas of INK’s neighborhood.

These areas include a grocery store, a hair salon, a restaurant, a train depot, a library, a veterinarian hospital and a post office. Plus, they have a fire truck, a police car and even a neighborhood park to play in. Volunteers can also enjoy assisting the staff with birthday parties, arts and crafts, and various fundraisers like INK’s annual Scarecrow on the Square. INK is a wonderful placement opportunity and a great place to go for fun!
