WELCOME from the President

I am pleased to welcome you to the 2023 Milestones Luncheon! On behalf of our nearly 4,000 members, I would like to thank you for joining us to celebrate our Sustainer of the Year, Pam Busbee, and enjoy a conversation with awardwinning actor and New York Times bestselling author, Rob Lowe.

Now in our 101st year, the Junior League of Dallas remains as committed as ever to developing the potential of women, promoting voluntarism, and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. This year alone, we will contribute over 100,000 uncompensated volunteer hours and over $1 million to the greater Dallas community. Our members will further our mission through direct service at our 34 partner agencies to address the most critical needs in our community.

After a wonderful Centennial celebration in 2021 – 2022, we have spent much of this year looking ahead to our next century of service to Dallas and examining new ways for the Junior League of Dallas to carry out its mission. We are excited to share that we will be expanding our Signature Projects program beginning in 2023 – 2024 by adding two new projects, Mayor’s Back to School Fair, which will provide logistical and volunteer support to the Mayor’s Office for this important community event, and the Park Improvement Project, which will work to improve green spaces in underserved areas of our community. We are also introducing new volunteer opportunities in our Community Program that will couple training with service, allowing our members to maximize their impact.

It is through the commitment of our members and the generosity of our donors that JLD cultivates leaders who collectively address the critical needs of our community. Your dedication and support allows our organization to continue to thrive and make a difference in the lives of so many in Dallas.

Warmly, Emily Somerville-Cabrera

2022 – 2023 Junior League of Dallas President

Welcome to the 2023 Milestones Luncheon! As the Junior League of Dallas embarks on its second century of training, service, and leadership in Dallas, we proudly reaffirm our commitment to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our funding and volunteer support serve local nonprofit agencies in our Community Program and Signature Projects created and administered by the League.

We also express our sincere gratitude to the JLD members who paved the way before us and had such a powerful philanthropic impact on our Dallas community. Because of women like these, the Junior League of Dallas is now the premier organization in Dallas for women leaders, uniting nearly 4,000 women dedicated to serving Dallas.

Please know that your generous support of the League through your donation to today’s Milestones Luncheon advances the JLD’s mission and those of the agencies we serve. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
