Our History The Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) has a history rich in service to the Charlotte area. It all began in 1926 when 30 trailblazing women answered a calling to provide support for local children and families in need, to patronize the arts and to advocate for education. From the Charlotte Nature Museum to Discovery Place to the Levine Children’s Hospital Family Resource Center, the League has left a legacy of service, dedication and compassion. Today, with more than 1,400 members and more than 15,000 hours of community service on an annual basis, the JLC continues to make its mark all over the Charlotte community.

Support Our Programs Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI)

LBDI is a week-long, social media-driven fundraising campaign that uses the iconic ‘little black dress’ to raise awareness about poverty and its effects in Mecklenburg County.

The JLC Annual Fund is used to directly support our mission by supporting our community partners, placement activities, community outreach efforts and membership training.
