This is an analysis of our Spring 2021 ISU Rome Studio site, located in the Pigneto neighborhood of Rome at the park containing Torrione Prestino, an ancient tomb and monument. In this analysis, we detail elements of the neighborhood and immediate site which influence the formation of a building first in plan and then in section. Without yet considering final volume or program, but only beginning from the perspective of community needs, this focused analysis allowed my partner and I to zoom in on the key landmarks, topographic changes, neighborhood (dis)connections, and access requirements which begin to determine a sensitive massing.
