The JJR Exceed Scholarship provides an opportunity for students to secure their future with one of Ireland’s most reputable names in construction with the added benefit of having their final year third-level undergraduate tuition fees covered.
Our Commitment to Your Future
• The scholarship provides an employmentbased opportunity to work full-time with JJR on a permanent contract upon graduation.
• It is open by nomination to third level undergraduate students in Built Environment fields who have completed a period of work experience with JJR.
• Students are nominated for the Scholarship by their line manager and will have demonstrated the following performance metrics during their time with JJR:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Necessary proficiency in relevant technology and software.
- A passion for the construction industry and a desire to make a difference.
• Once all eligibility criteria have been met, successful students will receive a formal offer from the JJR HR team to avail of the scholarship and join us as a full-time salaried employee for a period of two years after graduation.
• Once you accept the offer, JJR will pay full tuition fees for your final year in third-level education, directly to the institution.
• Should you accept a scholarship with us, you must graduate with a minimum 2.2 degree at the end of your third-level course.

Terms of Acceptance
Should a graduate face unforeseen circumstances that prevent them from starting their full-time role with JJR, the offer will be secure for up to 12 months. Should the student decide to withdraw from the scholarship once fees have been paid on their behalf, or fail to complete their third-level academic course, they will be liable for full reimbursement of academic fees directly to JJR.
Should the graduate employee cease employment with the company before their twoyear minimum contract expires, they will be liable for fees paid by JJR to their academic institution.

The process of being selected for the work placement was quick and straightforward. JJR is widely regarded as an excellent place to work, based on recommendations from both college lecturers and colleagues.
As an energy engineering student, I worked in the M&E department, helping to manage the building services for the Crown Hotel project. It was an incredible experience, working both
in the office and on-site, with the tasks always presenting new and exciting challenges. JJR provided courses, training, and equipment that made a significant difference to my professional development, including Safe Pass, BIM 360, Navisworks, PPE, and a welcome pack full of useful goodies.
The scholarship not only helped cover part of my college fees but also provided a working visa, and a two-year contract.
I am excited to return in 2025, ready to begin my professional career as an engineer at JJR.

I participated in JJR’s Scholarship Programme for my final year in college. I was also given the opportunity to work part-time on site during that year. This gave me a great opportunity to continue my development on site whilst also completing my studies. I enquired about this opportunity whilst I was on placement and upon reflection, I am extremely satisfied I did so. I am currently in the process of completing JJR’s Graduate Programme which is broadening my insight into the various sectors in construction. I feel like JJR have genuine interest in developing me as a person, and an engineer, and I feel privileged I get to begin my career with them.

The JJR Graduate Program has provided me with a great opportunity at the start of my career to gain a comprehensive experience in all aspects of the construction industry.
Upon the completion of my placement with JJR in 3rd year, they supported me financially and academically throughout my final year of college, which allowed me to return to full time employment following the completion of my final year.
I am now working as a Junior QS and the graduate programme has exposed me to talented colleagues from various departments making me a more well-rounded professional, which has meant my transition to full time employment has been very successful.

I’m currently studying Architectural Technology at ATU Galway. I joined the JJ Rhatigan team last June for the summer to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. I was placed with the Design Team in Parkmore, Galway. As part of my thirdyear work placement, I returned to JJR to continue to develop my skills and broaden my knowledge.
Working alongside experienced professionals has given me exposure to all aspects of construction. I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with individuals from various departments, gaining a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities. Thanks to my colleagues and managers support and guidance, I’ve been able to learn and develop new skills, which I find invaluable.
Overall, my time at JJR has been an incredible learning experience, providing me with essential knowledge, practical skills, and professional growth. I’m grateful to be part of such a dynamic and supportive environment, and I look forward to my future with JJR.
