Donation for COVID-19 Relief to Provide Community Support
Brooklyn, NY— June 4, 2020 — On Wednesday, June 3rd America’s oldest African American family organization, Jack and Jill of America, Inc.’s local Brooklyn chapter presented checks totaling $10,000 to Bed-Stuy The Campaign Against Hunger, and Brownsville Community Culinary Center. The Campaign Against Hunger currently serves 2,800 families a day in the Bedford Stuyvesant and Brownsville communities with pre-packed bags of nutritious food.
“During these unprecedented times of COVID-19, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Brooklyn Chapter, finds it within our mission to support local groups that feed those in need” says Jack and Jill of America Inc., Brooklyn Chapter President Danielle Eaddy-Alleyne. Brooklyn Jack and Jill takes initiative in supporting the community and ultimately, helping to increase food distribution.
NY City Council Member Robert Cornegy, a father in the Jack and Jill nationwide organization, said “I have witnessed the power of women who come together to stand for what is needed. Right now, there are members of our community who cannot sustain their families without these types of donations.” NY City Council Member Alicka Ampry-Samuel said, “Thank you to the Brooklyn Chapter of Jack and Jill of America for recognizing the needs of Brownsville during this pandemic and acting quickly to provide assistance where it is needed most.”
President Eaddy-Alleyne indicated that “the impact of our contribution through Brownsville Community Culinary Center/Collective Fare will allow this organization to provide 2,000 members of our community with prepared meals. The transformation of the BCCC kitchens into a mass-production facility is theingenuity in our community that we are proud of supporting.”
Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, dedicated to nurturing future African-American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty.
