About the Score Rhythmic cells (first shown at the top of page one) serve as the building blocks for the piece. Gestures and cells are contained within boxes above the system in which they first appear. Cells qualified by a number (e.g. “A1” or “B2”) indicated variations of the original cells presented on page one.

Rehearsal numbers are used throughout the score in lieu of measure numbers. They most often represent moments where performers should visually cue one another before proceeding to the next number.

Tempo indications affect all staves under which they appear.

Time notation (expressed in seconds) is not indicated proportionally (i.e. ten seconds in one system might occupy the same amount of physical space as 3 seconds on the same or another system.)

Performance Notes For rehearsal 30-50, performers are invited to act especially goofy, adding to the written directions and exaggerating any facial expressions or movements.

As noted on page nine, for rehearsal 40-48, entrances do not need to be in perfect time. Instead, performers are invited to “cut-off ” or “interrupt” one another.

Rehearsal 56-71 may be thought of as a single large “crescendo” of dynamics, intensity, and improvisational activity.

Rehearsal 78 should be as much of a “heavy-metal” ending as possible.

It is highly recommended that performers either incorporate a conductor, use click tracks to measure seconds, or incorporate the use of a clock on stage to measure times/ durations.

Performers should set up in a manner resembling the diagram below, and should take care to space as far away from one another as is reasonable.
