In November 2022, Jitegemee hosted a Tubonge Soccer Tournament at Scott Christian University Stadium, bringing together over 650 youth from the Machakos community.

In addition to a day playing soccer, we partnered with Bristol Park Hospital to provide health checkups to all participants. As the youth were playing soccer, Jitegemee staff and our peer mentors facilitated Tubonge clinics, speaking with the young soccer players about some of the challenges they face, including depression, drug abuse, and related challenges.

Having an opportunity to discuss these challenges with mentors and peers allowed these young people to hear from others facing similar difficulties, and also link to resources in the community where they can find support.
