Jim’s Terrace is the place for great food and drinks, right in the heart of one of the world’s most exciting capital cities. Open all day, this signature café welcomes diners with a comprehensive dining and drinks menu, which features everyday favourites and surprising culinary delights. Located on the 2nd Floor of the iconic store in the Jim Thompson House Museum – part of the Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter – Jim’s Terrace showcases a delectable selection of Thai tapas, which you can share with your dining partner.

Our dedicated staff is here to ensure an exceptional experience for every occasion. Come and explore our delightful selection of Thai tapas - small plates of homemade and traditional specialties with intense ﬂavors and premium local ingredients. Join us on our lovely terrace overlooking Baan Jim, the perfect setting for your private cocktail party! To reserve the terrace from 18:00 to 22:30, the minimum spend is THB 60,000++. While Jim might have been known for silk, he was also a trained architect and a collector at heart. By the late 1950’s, he had acquired such an extensive collection of art and antiques that he decided to build a place to house them just across the canal from the weaving community of Ban Krua.

House on the Klong was built in 1958 and took just one year to complete. It comprises of six traditional Thai houses made from teak wood, surrounded by lush gardens and greenery. As an admirer of Thai architecture, Jim purchased derelict Thai houses from around the country, had them dismantled on-site, before to be sent to his grounds and reassembled with the help of skilled carpenters from Ayutthaya.

Jim’s house became a historic landmark that fascinated the world, not only as the place of residence of the “Silk King” before his mysterious disappearance, but also for its comprehensive collection of Asian art and artifacts that was virtually unknown to the rest of the world at the time.

Jim Thompson served in the Ofﬁce of Strategic Services during WWII, which was the predecessor to the CIA. Our venue offers two distinct atmospheres under one roof for guests to enjoy. Our reﬁned tearoom provides guests with an elegant afternoon tea service along with a selection of teas and delectable treats, while our vibrant cocktail bar serves expertly crafted classic and contemporary cocktails.
