SONGKET

JT013866002

‘Songket’ is inspired by and derives its name from a type of traditional southeast Asian silk textile often used for sarongs, that feature intricate patterns created by brocaded weft yarns, often in gold. Our multihued version is woven with fine cotton strié yarns and has a design of richly patterned bands across its width. Its supple hand makes it suitable for both curtain panels and upholstery uses.

DUQUETTERIE

JT013381005

Created using Tony Duquette’s archival door panels from the famous “Elsie de Wolfe Cabinet” which he created for Elsie de Wolfe, Lady Mendle in 1941. These iconic carved plaster have been mirrored and paired as a series of recurring patterns with the fantasy “Tony Duquette Foliage”. Seated and standing figures, so beloved by de Wolfe, were repeatedly used by Duquette in his work.

BARDO

JT013670001

This dazzling lampas is a mystical re-interpretation of a classic Asian silk artwork that was discovered in a European textile archive. A fanciful menagerie of dragons, birds and tigers are woven with an antiqued effect and colorful weft threads against a rich shade of rustic gold. The complex and dense weave creates the luxurious appearance of a treasured antique textile.

LAMIAD

JT013560013

LAMIAD, another ancient Thai word that means “gentle”, is represented by an intense, four-ply silk with closely woven, heavily slubbed threads that create an interesting balance between sheen and mat. The fabric has been secretly enhanced with an invisible rayon weft that adds strength and provides for a tighter weave. The selection of 7 colours will provide almost endless ways to find a home for this exquisite fabric.

CHIANG RAI IKAT

JT013810006

Chiang Rai Ikat is a modern take on traditional ikat motifs, recreating a classic pattern in a dramatically enlarged scale for a bold, graphic look. Jacquard woven in softly variegated rayon yarns against a cotton ground, the fabric is well suited for chair or ottoman upholstery and decorative applications.

MING MING

JT013630001&5

This intricate, oriental decoration mirrors the regal, floral motifs that adorn traditional Asian ceramics, such as those currently showcased at the Jim Thompson House. Here, ornamental luxury has been transformed into an opulent, 100% silk jacquard; available in vivid and subtle nuances that depict the true depth of colour and sheen of Jim Thompson silk.

THAIGER

JT013845003

This classic tiger skin velvet is a nod to all things Thai and to Tony Duquette’s fascination with exotic animal patterns. As a frequent visitor to Thailand and a personal friend of Jim Thompson’s, Tony Duquette once referred to himself in an article for Vogue Magazine as having been Thai in another life. Thaiger mixes plush cut and loop pile for a beautifully textured, vintage appearance, in neutral-natural shades of silver grey, sepia and gold. The bold patterning is softened a bit at the edges with an ikat-like rendering.

KHEMARIN

JT013664010&31

A heavier weight interpretation of ‘Carom’, Khemarin is a two-ply plain weave that’s rich in texture. The technique of combining a smooth, thin silk warp with a heavier, slubbed silk weft results in a highly lustrous, decadent fabric. The Khemarin Collection offers an impressive selection of 42 colours; including timeless Jim Thompson classics, as well as au courant shades like Sandshell, Apple Blossom, Blood Orange and Golden Palm.

SHORELINE

N9012357005

Using the same feel good bouclé yarns as “Hightide”, the flat ground of the fabric plays off against the movement of the horizontal stripes of bouclé, suggesting ripples on the water’s edge a classic and useable addition to the line.
