Seems like a lot has happened in our industry since our November/ December issue. The fall bull sales remained strong in our area after an incredible
fall female season. This is certainly encouraging to everyone in the Hereford business. The annual American Hereford Association annual meeting and convention was one for the record books primarily because of the Covid situation at that time in Missouri. A winter storm in our area and the upper Midwest and some western states also affected turnout and it affected our trip as well. Having received over a foot of snow here, we were unable to attend the event which was disappointing to me. Masks and lighter than normal turnout seemed to be the situation for the weekend as we’ve seen with many, many events this year. The very deserving honorees were able to make it to the event and be recognized with these very high honors from the association. I would like to extend my personal congratulations to all these people, most of whom I know, and especially to Billy Ashe and his family. Billy has been a close family friend for many years, being especially near and dear to my Dad. I know he was smiling down from Heaven at this news and saying, “that’s the way, Billy!” We have photos and articles on all the AHA honorees. City, MO. Burke Healey, Davis, OK., was posthumously inducted into the Hereford Hall of Merit. The Hall of Fame and Merit awards are presented annually to those who have influenced the advancement of the Hereford breed and the beef industry.
