obble Cakes in downtown Blacksburg

is not just your local cupcake shop anymore; they now offer full wedding cakes, and would be proud to serve you on your special day. Located in the heart of Blacksburg on College Avenue, Gobble Cakes is the perfect mixture of confectionery favorites and creativity.

Started two years ago by owner and Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate Jill Justice, Gobble Cakes has become a favorite destination for students and locals alike to come grab a tasty cupcake. With a menu that’s constantly changing and correlates to the season, patrons are able to try something new or savor seasonal favorites.

The baker, Chelsea Mallory, never ceases to amaze with her creative concoctions, such as fan-favorites Strawberry Champagne and Crème Brulee, as well as venturing into such flavors as Maple Bacon and Orange Pomegranate. Chelsea discovered her baking skills at a young age baking with her mother, and perfected them at The National Institute of Culinary Arts. In her final year she traveled to Ludlow, England to intern at the Clive Bar and Restaurant with Rooms.

After making a name for themselves locally with their extensive array of cupcakes, Gobble Cakes would like to expand their brand into the catering business. Chelsea, whose cakes have been served at many weddings and who has attended wedding expos in the past for inspiration, sees tons of creative potential for her cakes. “I love the last five minutes when everything is completed and the cake is on the wedding stand,” Mallory said. “Being able to match the cupcakes with the cake design makes the whole display come together.”

Gobble Cakes offers both a traditional wedding cake and their signature cupcakes to serve during your wedding experience. They find it more convenient for guests to have cupcake options rather than waiting for one slice of a single flavor cake. Whatever your preference, Gobble Cakes can work with you to make your wedding day even sweeter.

Think Gobble Cakes sounds like the perfect fit for your wedding? Chelsea will work step-by-step with you through three different tastings in order to design the perfect wedding package. The first meeting will be a general taste test, where the various flavors are narrowed down to top choices. The next meeting is where the theme and design come together -- this is where Chelsea shines.

With her creative expertise and deft hand, she will have your desserts looking beautiful. The last meeting is an optional one, yet most parties seem to want to check out the final product to make sure everything is perfect before Chelsea bakes the whole order.
