RAyCARE

While RayStation is planning the treatment for one patient at a time, RayCare is managing the center’s workflows. This includes scheduling for machines/doctors, patient charts, diagnoses, meeting notes, image archives, reviews and more. RayCare is closely integrated with RayStation and provides seamless access to all of the powerful planning tools in RayStation and RayCommand. The system efficiently coordinates activities in radiation therapy and offers advanced features for clinical workflow automation and adaptive radiation therapy.

Cancer patients are often treated with a combination of radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery. RayCare has been designed to handle combined treatments of different modalities, which increases opportunities for clinics to manage combinations of these three modalities using the system.

RaySearch and Varian have entered into an agreement regarding testing to validate interoperability between RayCare and Varian’s TrueBeam linear accelerator. If the testing is successful, clinics will be able to use RayCare to handle all clinical activities related to TrueBeam. The testing will begin in 2022. In addition to improved workflows for existing customers, this agreement will significantly increase the market potential for RayCare.

Efforts to further improve the functionality of RayCare continued during the year in close collaboration with a number of leading cancer clinics. A new version was released in May 2021, RayCare 5A, with a range of new features that increase efficiency for clinical staff and improve safety by reducing the number of manual routine tasks. RayCare 5B was subsequently released in December. The most important new feature of RayCare 5B is the possibility for users to configure their own workflows and documents. This enables the centers to tailor workflows to their specific needs, which can help to streamline the clinical processes. Another advantage is that increased sales of RayCare are unlikely to overburden RaySearch’s service organization. The new version also increases access to key patient-specific information, which will enhance operational efficiency and safety throughout the course of radiation treatment delivery.
