JAMES ISLAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IS.... an amazing community united by a shared passion for Christian education.

We are tremendously blessed to have dedicated faculty who know and love their students and are experts in their fields. Our beautiful campus provides a safe and secure environment in which students can focus on learning and growing into the young men and women God has created them to be. In all things, we teach and learn through a Biblical worldview.

In our lower school, our academic programs are intentionally designed to develop students who are inquisitive and engaged. Our middle school program is designed to allow students to explore their unique gifts and talents through new experiences and areas of study while still offering a tremendous amount of support. The high school provides strong academic offerings allowing students to pursue their interests and embrace intellectual curiosity. Students learn to answer life’s questions from a Biblical worldview.

We desire to provide to all of our students an educational experience that is balanced and supportive. Our mission is to prepare students for college and beyond in all aspects: spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.

LOWER SCHOOL

Grades PreK3-5

Our lower school begins with our K3 program which teaches through hands-on, experimental learning models, nurturing students’ boundless curiosity. As students progress in lower school, they build a solid foundation through a Biblical worldview across disciplines that continue to engage, enrich, and deepen cognitive, emotional, and social skills while inspiring excitement for learning.

Passionate and dedicated teachers foster environments that spark curiosity, exploration, and a joy for learning.

Innovative Pre-K program in an environment designed for our youngest learners.

Balanced curriculum providing academic rigor, enrichment offerings, and co-curricular offerings including school-wide performances and after-school clubs.

Weekly chapel led by our Lower School Principal.

Weekly enrichment classes include: art, P.E., music and Spanish.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Grades 6-8

Our middle school goes beyond academic preparation. At JICS, students explore their identity in Christ along with their purpose and place in this world.

Rigorous yet age appropriate curriculum that fosters a safe and nurturing Christ-centered community where every student feels valued and belongs.

Weekly enrichment offerings in art, P.E., music and technology.

A student life program that promotes a Biblical worldview through weekly community groups, engaging weekly chapels, daily activity periods, overnight retreats and field trips, theme days, and various co-curricular activities.

HIGH SCHOOL

Grades 9-12

In our high school, we have designed a program to cultivate our future leaders.

Our college preparatory academic program includes a solid sequence of core courses taught through a Biblical worldview.

Our high school program also includes a J-Term, mission trips, and spiritual retreats.

Students compliment their academics with our many cocurricular offerings that foster growth, instill confidence, and hone leadership skills.

Spiritual life programs aim to develop a Biblical worldview and prepare students for life beyond high school. Weekly chapel, leadership and service are integral parts to our program.

A supportive community where students are known and mentored by a committed faculty throughout the upper school experience.

ATHLETICS James Island Christian School competes in the 1A division of the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA).

The athletic department offers 10 sports (boys and girls) and field 26 teams in those sports at the middle school, JV and varsity levels. More than 84% of students in grades 5-12 participate in school sponsored athletics. Additionally, we offer an intramural program for our students in grades K5-4th.

FINE ARTS Fine Arts are an integral part of student life at James Island Christian School, providing students with opportunities to explore creativity through music, visual arts, and performance. Students participate in orchestra, choir, theatre, dance, and Praise Team while developing foundational skills in classroom music and visual arts.

Through performances, competitions, art shows, and community events, students grow in confidence, creativity, and expression.
