FEATURED PROJECT: THE GARDEN OF LATERNS The Garden of Lanterns, curated by Bronwyn Minton, was a months-long community endeavor that culminated in a transformative evening of light and performance at the Center for the Arts.

Starting in May, Jackson Hole Public Art hosted specialized “Train-theTrainer” sessions led by internationally recognized lantern artist Gowri Savoor, equipping local educators and artists with the skills to lead their own workshops. 30 local artists and mearly 1,000 community members made lanterns. Throughout the summer, these opportunities expanded to the broader public, including intensive two-day willow-sculpting sessions with Valerie Seaberg and “pop-up” making stations at the People’s Market.

On the night of October 10, 2025, the Center Park became a luminous sanctuary featuring over 40 giant lantern sculptures, some standing 15 feet tall.

Under the expert lighting design of Dan Sanford, the amphitheater glowed with handcrafted flowers, leaves, and abstract plant shapes.

2,000 attendees wandered through the glowing flora, the event served as a powerful reminder of what can be grown when a community invests its time and creativity into a shared vision.

I’ve been thinking about how powerful it is to hold space like that — to bring people together through light, imagination, and care. Arts For All Grants Jackson Hole Public Art facilitates the grants process for the Town of Jackson and Teton County. $47,000 in Arts for All funding was awarded to 20 local arts and culture organizations and two individual artists.

These grants provide direct support to organizations and artists to address gaps in existing art programs, broaden public access to the arts, enhance arts education, support the production and presentation of new works, and provide ongoing operating assistance. A panel of local community members with diverse experience in the arts reviews the grants.

Examples of funded grants: Jackson Hole Community Radio’s Intermountain Best that gives KHOL listeners and readers insight into the people and stories behind the great art that comes through Jackson; the Art Association’s youth after-school winter programming; Jackson Hole Pride’s Spring Fling Fashion Thing 3; and Lina Collado Garcias’s ongoing efforts to chronicle the impact of the housing crisis on Jackson’s workforce by blending photography with audio to amplify voices that are often overlooked.

GLOWNIGHTS 2025-2026

Celebrating its 7th winter, Glow Nights successfully transformed the Jackson Hole landscape into a luminous outdoor gallery, further cementing its status as a cornerstone of the region’s seasonal identity. A collaborative triumph between Jackson Hole Public Art, the Teton Village Association, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and the Center for the Arts, the exhibition activated the Teton Village Commons and the Center for the Arts Park with immersive, glowing sculptures.

POETRY BOX The Poetry Box was created in 2010 by local artist John Frechette and is curated by local poet and Director of Jackson Hole Writers Matt Daly. The Poetry Box was the brainchild of arts writer and advocate Meg Daly.

ART SPOT: ABRE TUS ALAS “Open Your Wings” The installation symbolizes the journey of graduating students as they prepare to move beyond the classroom and toward new destinations.

Each piece reflects students’ growth, courage, and determination to pursue their dreams. The work celebrates new beginnings and the endless possibilities ahead, while acknowledging that—like the geese depicted—many will one day return home carrying new experiences and hard-earned wisdom.

ART AND HEALING AT ST. JOHNS HEALTH

Art in healthcare settings is recognized as a powerful tool used to create a healing environment by lowering stress and anxiety of patients, families, and staff. Art helps rejuvenate, restore and heal the human spirit; it transforms the visitor experience, builds community among patients and staff, and demonstrates a commitment to excellence.

For more than 10 years, Jackson Hole Public Art has provided consulting services to St. Johns Health Foundation, supporting the Art & Healing collection through the acquisition of permanent and temporary works.

ANNOUNCING: TO JACKSON HOLE, WITH LOVE To Jackson Hole, With Love transforms Jackson into a living postcard project. Artist designed sculptural mailboxes will be installed across the valley.

The public will be invited to write and deposit postcards of care and gratitude, in response to the prompt: What do you love about Jackson Hole? In this divisive time, such a question aims to transcend the distance between politics and place, personalities and affinities, thereby reconnecting respondents to the why of where they live and visit.

Through this project, mailboxes, commonplaces vessels of communication, are reimagined as public sculptures of care. Dispersed across the valley, they encourage exploration and connection, turning Jackson Hole into one large, participatory love postcard to itself. The anonymity of postcards empowers honesty and generousity. The use of everyday materials postcards, mailboxes —­­­­­­makes art accessible. The public-private blend allows intimate expressions to be safely shared with others. Community healing transforms postcards into tools to express grief, hope and love.

On October 15, 2026, To Jackson Hole, With Love culminates in a multidisciplinary community celebration featuring dance, spoken word, and a short film, transforming the collected postcards into a shared, living portrait of love, reflection, and connection across the valley.

Nationally acclaimed authors of Your Brain on Art will present at the Center for the Arts May 29, 7PM, FREE, ticketed Research demonstrates that even a single session of artmaking can lower stress hormones, while ongoing participation strengthens cognitive function, improves mood, and supports brain health across the lifespan. Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross will present their fascinating and relevant findings in a captivating audio and visual presentation.
