Affordable Residences Our firm is proud to have decades of extensive experience in the affordable housing sector. These projects require creativity, efficiency, and thorough knowledge of financing structures and regulations. For years, we’ve designed affordable residential projects that maximize unit counts and livability within tight budget constraints. We understand the nuances of LIHTC financing, voucher programs, and affordability requirements, and we know how to design projects that meet these requirements while still designing beautiful, dignified housing. Our work includes new construction and preservation/renovation of existing housing, always with the intention to build properties that perform sustainably for the long term.

Shaped in response to the devastating flooding and displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina, Columbia Parc at the Bayou District stands as a lasting example of recovery and renewal in New Orleans. Planned by JHP as urban planner, the neighborhood transforms a once-fragmented site into a connected, mixed-income community anchored by high-quality affordable and senior housing. Designed to support returning residents alongside new neighbors, the plan emphasizes dignity, choice, and long-term resilience. Columbia Parc reflects an inclusive vision for the city’s future and has emerged as a model for equitable, community-centered rebuilding in the post-Katrina landscape. Columbia Parc is now a complete, award-winning neighborhood that successfully reintegrates former residents while welcoming new households. Recognized locally and nationally, including a visit from President Barack Obama, the community demonstrates how equitable housing, urban design, and phased reinvestment can support recovery beyond physical rebuilding.

Beyond, an octagonal tower glows after dusk, a quiet landmark that signals home. Between private residences and shared amenities, thoughtfully shaped in-between spaces invite lingering hellos, small gatherings, and the rhythms of daily life—allowing community to form naturally, one conversation at a time.
