Currently, I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree in interior design from P P Savani University. I’m always enthusiastic about learning new creative skills and I do my best to build them stronger. In my three years of learning, I’ve found myself very fascinated by curvilinear lines and abstract forms. I strive to learn more about such forms and develop them to create a better environment as a designer.

COMMERCIAL DESIGN -Bridal Boutique

The bridal boutique is a kind of retail store that offers high-end designer attires for the bride-to-be, bridesmaids, etc. It is a place where the bride and her family spend a lot of their time to get a perfect dress for the ceremony. So the place should be more convenient and comfortable for the customers according to requirements. About the site: Site location: J.K.complex, Zadeshwar road, nr Inox multiplex, Bharuch, Gujarat. The site is on the main road. There are all the facilities available as such salons. Besides it, there is a residential area. For entertainment purposes, there is an Inox multiplex next to the site. The railway station is 5.4km and government offices as such Bharuch PWD office are 6.1km away from the site.

Design Development

To design the bridal boutique, a very raw idea was chosen; that is to convert saptapadi (7 steps/ vows taken while Hindu marriage ceremony) into a layout.

The entrance opens up with a reception desk and on the other two sides with display systems. The 6 steps act as a display system that is suspended from the ceiling. The big step is arranged in the center of the site which acts as a transition element consists of a seating area. Changing room and alteration area are on the opposite sides, which is followed by pantry and toilet. 2.43

While entering the site and starting from an upper left corner; the steps were arranged in a way similar to the vows ceremony that is the first step will be right foot then left and it goes on till sixth foot. All six feet will cover the whole site and will act as a display system for all the attires. 0.90

The entrance opens up with a reception desk of beige concrete material. The biggest foot is arranged in the middle of the site which acts as the public area, which includes a reception area and seating area. The seating has matte maroon velvet as a material. Directional spotlights are attached in the outer part in the shape of a step just to highlight the attires. There is a pendant lamp above the reception desk. The background material of the boutique was kept quite subtle to balance the heavy and shiny wedding dress. Also to give an industrial look, an exposed ceiling was designed. 07

The main door is a hand-hammered heavy copper door.

Ground Floor The terminologies used are: Deconstructivism, Movement-Pause, Fluidity, Rythm, Hierarchy, Dynamics. The moving lines from Pierres Vives; one of Zaha Hadid’s buildings to incorporate movement and pause in the diagram. The diagram was created in a such way that the voids formed in between can be used as working space and the narrow lanes as a transition.

About the site: The site is a warehouse of decathlon located at dumas road of Surat, Gujarat. The site is west facing and is road touch. The site is very suitable for the corporate office as it is located opposite of Surat international airport and also there is low traffic throughout the day. There is an amusement park nearby.

Residential interior design is the art of creating aesthetic and functional living spaces. The family is Punjabi and it consists of 4 members: father, mother, daughter and grandma. The occupation of father and mother is engineer and architect respectively. As per the requirement, the contemporary type was chosen for residence design. The material and color palette was kept quite cozy yet fresh which suits every age type.

The concept is evolved from thread reel. It is divided into four equal parts. The curvature formed; is considered as the front element of the design which is used as hand rest for customers. To give a sense of fluidity to the table; a free-flowing cut is given in the front elevation.
