THE DRIP Brighter Futures Begin with Water
Reflections of a Brighter Future It's an honour to have such a latrine - with a washing facility!! Pupils wash hands immediately after visiting the latrine and this had not been happening! What do you think of when you hear the word innovation? Maybe something like a Tesla? Apple’s latest device? Perhaps a new vaccine capable of eliminating an epidemic? Often we go for moonshot innovation when we think of changing the world. But it turns out it’s the unglamorous but steady “drip” of behaviour over the long haul that produces lasting results. This is why the small but significant innovation in Uganda by our team - designing and constructing a tap, sink, and mirror built onto the side of the latrine to attract students to wash their hands - is so noteworthy. Unremarkable at first, the innovation prompted kids like Devine to look at themselves, and that reflection prompted handwashing, which was enabled by the steady drip of clean water thanks to your support. One of the first of its kind for rural schools in South Western Uganda, it costs just $32 to create a more lasting result without a moonshot. And that reflection Devine now sees in the mirror as she washes her hands is the start of a much brighter future - one filled with health and opportunity!

Life's New Journey Every time a tap stand turns on flowing safe, clean water for the first time, we celebrate, and thanks to your support, several taps have been turned on in the villages of Buharwe and Butenga (within our Masha Project area). The Bigger Story A few years ago, we shared a video and invited you to join us in being a part of a bigger story. It was a story of Innocent and his brother, who walked for hours to a swamp, and it was also a story of Richard Musinguzi, his team, and our hope to transform this region, starting with water. What we didn’t realize then was that we, too, were walking out our own ‘bigger story,’ intimately connected with Kicuzi and this region. We’ve been invited to partner with this District on a much larger scope, to provide water coverage that is more expansive than we’ve been a part of yet! We’ve now reached a point where we believe we’re able to scale our team to have upwards of three water projects running at any given point. The local government is continuing to fund our work at greater levels so the flow of clean water can be sustained as we build our team. And we are inviting you to join us in this vision to see taps spread across this countryside in a way like never before. We're days away from launching team three. Just 24 months ago, we didn't know if we could support one team.
