VALUES
MISSION
Jewish Family Service exists to fulfill one of the most important Jewish values of Tikkun Olam, the obligation to make the world a better place.
Improving the lives of individuals and families in need throughout Colorado by taking an integrated approach to delivering comprehensive support services.
In delivering our services, we are also guided by the following Jewish values: He who saves one life saves the entire world. – Pikuah Nefesh Social justice, the obligation to act justly toward people in need. – Tzedakah
Acts of loving kindness. – G’milut Hasadim Every human being is equal in the eyes of God. – Tselem Elohim The act of mending the heart. – Tikkun HaLev
About JFS JFS is a nonprofit human services organization that serves anyone in need–regardless of their circumstances or religious beliefs. We believe in a shared responsibility to support impactful changes throughout our community. Founded in 1872, we currently offer more than 30 programs and services, including food security, housing stability, mental health counseling, aging care, employment support, refugee resettlement, chaplaincy and Jewish life, disability services, and aeroponic farming. JFS takes a holistic approach, assessing the various needs of the individual or family and provides the appropriate services all from one organization. We continuously evaluate the evolving challenges of our community and adapt or develop programs that respond to the resulting needs.

VISION As a leading and inclusive human services agency, JFS provides innovative programs inspiring people to achieve long-term stability and live more meaningful lives.
Our 2026 Annual Report is about more than sharing numbers, although that is a powerful representation of the meaningful and crucial work we do. It reminds us that every day, supporters like you believe in our mission, give your time and financial investment, and enable JFS to continue to show up for those who need us. This year brought new challenges for many people. Some faced an uncertain future, struggled to find a job earning a living wage, worried about affording rent, skipped meals to pay for unexpected medication, or desperately sought mental health counseling to manage anxiety. Even as the world changes, we remain inspired by the clients we are privileged to serve and by those of you who make our work possible.

JFS is more than a human services agency; we are a community. Positive outcomes happen every day because we all come together to support friends and neighbors braving difficulties, bridging gaps, building sustainability, and creating resiliency. We listen to what our community needs and let that guide our work, so we can be both a safety net and a pathway to new opportunities. We are here when people are in crisis, but we are also here to help them move forward. In the coming fiscal year, your support will be more important than ever. Your partnership will do more than fund a program; it will change the trajectory of many individuals’ and families’ lives. We cannot be the safeguard our community needs without you, and we are grateful to share this journey with you to make a meaningful difference in thousands of lives. JFS is truly a place where compassion creates community. Thank you for being part of it. Warmly,
Linda P. Foster Carl Rossow President and CEO Chair, Board of Directors

FISCAL YEAR 2026 HIGHLIGHTS JFS does important work with conviction, never wavering or losing focus on our mission and strengths, even amid funding restrictions and policy changes that have affected every department. A few of our transformational moments include:
Expanded KidSuccess access to care for underserved populations through schoolbased mental health programming, including refugees and specifically Spanish-speaking children and parents.
Our ACE Unified Basketball team went from last place to a firstplace championship at the Special Olympics.
3
Supported 64 individuals following the Pearl Street firebomb attack in Boulder with 484 individual counseling sessions, 51 family sessions, and 7 group EMDR sessions for 31 individuals, all delivered by our JFS therapists.
193,792 total services provided to 28,000 individuals across multiple programs.
Built a new training partnership between our Employment Services team and Denver Public School’s transition program for students with disabilities.

Community Resources for Stability We help individuals and families find services such as case management, emergency financial assistance, and food support to improve their circumstances.
689,410 meals were served through the Weinberg Food Pantry and the Mobile Food & Hygiene Pantry to 7,136 households. $1,736,601 were provided to 991 individuals in metro Denver who received emergency financial assistance to pay their rent, mortgage, utilities, and more.
JFS MEETS HUNGER DEMAND With rising costs of housing, childcare, health care, and food, along with job losses or stagnant wages, an average of 4,100 individuals and 1,525 unique households visit our Weinberg Food Pantry and Mobile Food & Hygiene Pantry each month. “We see families who are new to the pantry because of the spiraling cost of living, refugees, older adults who are losing their benefits or having their Social Security cut, and individuals who are in between jobs or can’t live on minimum wage despite having multiple jobs,” shared JFS Food Security Programs Manager Doug Vega. Our clients need help offsetting bills and filling gaps. For example, each week a shuttle bus brings older adults from a local community partner, which provides housing and support, to our pantry. Even with Social Security, rental assistance, Medicare, and SNAP benefits, these residents struggle to afford food and necessities. Some tell us they work part-time jobs just to make ends meet. One client said, “There was nothing to eat in my house, so thank you.”

FINDING JOB SUCCESS WITH JFS EMPLOYMENT SERVICES Suzanne and her partner were eager to move to Colorado to be closer to her sister, who just had a baby. Finding a job was challenging for Suzanne until she learned about JFS’s employment services and met with a career specialist. With Gabe’s help, she went from four interviews in seven months to four interviews in a week. Working with Gabe, Suzanne learned to tailor her resume better using keywords and job descriptions that prevented her application from being filtered out by employers’ human resource software. “I thought I was doing a good job, but it turns out I had a lot to learn,” shared Suzanne. “Gabe taught me valuable information in this difficult job search climate and made a tangible difference in getting my resume noticed.” Suzanne has started a job she’s excited about. She also shared what she learned from Gabe with her partner, who secured a new job too!

JFS’S ADAPTIVE BIKE PROGRAM MAKES A DIFFERENCE “For my son, Carson, the Adaptive Bike Program provides a welcoming, inclusive environment where participants can enjoy physical activity, build meaningful friendships, and experience the joy and freedom that comes with cycling. Beyond the physical benefits, I have watched Carson’s confidence and leadership grow in remarkable ways. Through regular participation, he has become more willing to encourage and support others, take initiative, and challenge himself in ways that extend well beyond the bike trail. The sense of accomplishment he feels after each ride carries over into other areas of his life, reinforcing his belief in his own abilities and independence. As a parent, nothing is more rewarding than seeing your child find a place where they are genuinely excited to participate, feel accepted, and continue to grow. The Adaptive Bike Program has given Carson exactly that. It has enriched his quality of life while helping him develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and lasting friendships.” —Ellen S., parent of Adaptive Bike program participant
