Annual Report

Fiscal Year 2025

July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025

Mission

Improving the lives of individuals and families in need throughout Colorado by taking an integrated approach to delivering comprehensive support services.

Vision

As a leading and inclusive human services agency, JFS provides innovative programs inspiring people to achieve long-term stability and live more meaningful lives.

Values

Jewish Family Service exists to fulfill one of the most important Jewish values of Tikkun Olam, the obligation to make the world a better place.

In delivering our services, we are also guided by the following Jewish values:

Pikuah Nefesh–He who saves one life saves the entire world. Tzedakah–Social justice, the obligation to act justly toward people in need.

G’milut Hasadim–Acts of loving kindness.

Tselem Elohim–Every human being is equal in the eyes of God. Tikkun HaLev–The act of mending the heart.

Jewish Family Service of Colorado

JFS is a nonprofit human services organization that serves anyone in need–regardless of their circumstances, age, ethnicity, race, faith, income, ability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. We believe in a shared responsibility to support impactful changes throughout our community.

Founded 153 years ago, we currently offer more than 30 programs and services, including food security, housing stability, mental health counseling, aging care, employment support, refugee resettlement, chaplaincy and Jewish life, disability services, and aeroponic farming. JFS takes a holistic approach, assessing the various needs of the individual or family and provides the appropriate services all from one organization. We continuously evaluate the evolving challenges of our community and adapt or develop programs that respond to the resulting needs.

From the CEO and Board Chair

We are proud to present our 2025 Annual Report, a reflection of our last fiscal year, during which we met unprecedented demands and strengthened community connections. Our work is a testament to the unwavering support of our family of supporters. Your compassion and generosity continue to drive our positive impact in our communities and beyond. Looking back at the last fiscal year, these pages underscore the significance of our efforts to make the world a better place and expand resources beyond our walls, reaching individuals and families as diverse as our programs and services. We continued to evaluate our services to best meet the needs we see every day, and we strengthened our programs to create relevant opportunities for our clients to thrive. The year was filled with reflection, challenges, and so much good. In addition to the highlights you’ll read throughout the report, your generosity allowed us to:

• Pass a four-year strategic framework to guide the organization in achieving long-term stability and continuing to have a positive impact, enabling us to fulfill our mission effectively.

• Celebrate the 30th anniversary of our school-based mental health program, KidSuccess, which has been on the front lines, making a difference, welcoming children, and providing the necessary resources for them to heal in a supportive school environment.

• Administer the Boulder County Crisis Counseling mental health program, funded through the Community Foundation of Boulder County’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Red Cross, among others. More than 267 licensed private practice therapists provided 1,091 individuals or households with free therapy, totaling over 9,800 sessions to help combat trauma, depression, or anxiety associated with the Marshall Fire and subsequent Straight-line Wind event.

On behalf of the individuals and families we serve, thank you for your commitment to JFS. Just as it has been for the past 153 years, it is our honor and privilege to support our community in a thoughtful and compassionate way—and we couldn’t do this critical work without you.

Warmly,

Donor Spotlight

100+ Jews Who Care

Partnerships are vital to JFS’s success. Through grants, donations of funds, food, and supplies, or volunteering their time, partners make a lasting impact.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeff Robbins and David Frieder heard about the concept of giving circles. Inspired by what they learned, they set out to find eight people willing to donate $100 each to a local charity. Instead, 44 people expressed enthusiasm, and ultimately, the foundation for 100+ Jews Who Care was built—with the JFS Weinberg Food Pantry receiving the group’s first grant.

At its core, 100+ Jews Who Care believes in Tikkun Olam, the obligation to make the world a better place; not just the Jewish world, but the entire world. “We are helping people who need help,” shared Robbins. With 253 members, the group connects a network of like-minded donors to make a positive impact in the Denver-Boulder metro area.

Every quarter, a donor can nominate one 501(c)(3) organization, and from all the submissions, five organizations are chosen randomly. After learning more about the finalists, members vote, and the five finalists receive a portion of the collected quarterly donations in proportion to the number of votes they received. An organization can receive two grants per year, but they must be allocated to distinct programs. To date, JFS has been fortunate to receive grants for our resettlement, food, mental health, and emergency assistance programs, as well as JFS Altius Farms.

Partners like 100+ Jews Who Care help JFS remain one of Colorado’s most impactful human services agencies. Together, we make a meaningful difference in our community.
