The remodel of an existing bakery into a new Japanese restaurant and bar in the historic O’Kane Building in downtown Bend, including a new bar, booth seating, and lounge.
A Custom booth seating and windows into the kitchen allow an expansive view of restaurant activity
B The custom back bar gives character to the space while simultaneously concealing the walk-in
C. A previously enclosed area used for storage, opened up to create a lofted lounge.
D. A vestibule with takeout window, various options for seating, a cozy loft, and custom designed full height back bar create an inviting and dynamic environment for patrons and employees alike




J U S T Y ’ S
BEND, OR - 2022
This restaurant and bar, with its roof deck view of the Cascades, leans into the Pacific Northwest style, using canopies, metal cladding, exposed steel and NLT.
A The structural steel, exposed mechanical systems, and bright NLT all give the ceilings character, which is highlighted with strategically placed uplighting
B. Changes in cladding colors, exterior lighting, and signage all required meticulous detailing.
C. The glazed garage doors allow the dining area to be opened up to the exterior patio, with bar seating spanning both interior and exterior spaces and the deep NLT overhang and shade sails providing a comfortable exterior area even on sunny summer days
D. The building exterior showcases metal canopies, a roof deck with steel stair and custom railing, slick metal cladding and roofing, and a combination of hardscaped and landscaped areas.

O T T O ’ S L A N D I N G
REDMOND, OR - 2022
A place of gathering, Otto’s Landing is a sports bar, food truck lot and pool hall all rolled into one. With its rustic look, this new building feels as if it has been a local spot forever.
A The mezzanine, which gives the patrons an up close look at the beautiful ceiling trusses, includes the pool hall, bar seating, and a glazed overhead door opening out to the second floor patio
B. Various materials coming together in different ways required extensive detailing to ensure the design intent was carried out at every location.
C The open dining room includes double height ceilings, abundant natural light and a custom bar
D The use of exposed wood structure, unfinished wood cladding, stone base, corrugated metal roofs and simplified exterior fence all lend to the old west feeling imbued throughout.


P A W K E T T R E A T S
BEND, OR - 2019
In an industrial shell, this build-out serves as the headquarters for a local dog treat company, including production areas, a warehouse, office loft and break room.

A The office area is lofted above the main production space The large shell building windows provide natural daylighting and allow for a unique working surface to be included in the office space
B. Incredibly tight clearances and a packed program required innovative problem solving to allow for all elements and circulation to coexist without feeling cluttered.
C The production area, which integrates the structure for the loft above, is well lit both naturally and artificially and provides a clean and sterile production environment while not feeling cold or uninviting



T H E C E L L A R

BEND, OR - 2021
The Cellar is a cask only tasting room with low ceilings, warm lighting, and stone walls which create a cozy atmosphere in a once unused basement.
A The new tap wall fits snugly between existing structural elements, reinforcing the idea of The Cellar being an old standby, rather than a brand new renovation
B. The private dining room, nicknamed The Snug, is covered in lavish finishes, including high end wall paper, an embossed ceiling, retro glass lighting fixture, and wood paneling.
C The Snug is framed with heavy wood beams, leaning in to the heavy basement motif
D The renovation aimed to make use of the existing conditions that made the space so unique, leaving the structure exposed but repainted, refinishing the concrete slab and incorporating rather than covering the existing stone walls

BEND, OR - 2023
This two story dental clinic has a striking presence on its corner lot, utilizing unique materials and sweeping interiors to provide a high end feel still grounded in the PNW.
A The first floor lobby brings together various interior finishes, while the flared stairway invites patrons up to the second floor
B. The metal and wood canopies are detailed to appear seamlessly embedded into the dark brick veneer walls above the hot-rolled steel panels and adjacent windows.
C The sterilization area and brushing stations open up to the main clinic area, allowing natural light to reach as much of the interior as possible
D. The building takes advantage of its corner lot with large openings on both street facing sides, along with a cantilevered office and hot-rolled steel cladding creating a striking corner.

B U S I N E S S C O M M O N S BEND, OR - 2020

A The existing sprawling office area is divided into multiple smaller tenant spaces, with clean finishes and open floor plans, and any existing structure is incorporated as an feature rather than being hidden
B. New wood columns replace CMU to help modernize the space. Kitchenettes are added to several common areas to give tenants space to congregate and socialize outside of the office.
This renovation breathes new life into the former newspaper building by creating modern new suites and common areas for tenants.
C Tenant suites include conference rooms with glazed roll up doors to the main walkway, allowing a more open and collaborative environment
D. The new stairway and metal catwalk are the stunners of this project. Each new tenant suite has an entry opening up to the main hall or upper catwalk, where natural light pours in from above.

The renovation of the industrial portion of the former newspaper building creates usable office space out of the existing production areas.
A A new conference room bridges the warehouse with the open office area (formerly the production floor), with large windows for views and natural light on both sides
B. New windows and lighting were installed into existing exterior CMU walls, requiring meticulous detailing for both waterproofing and proper structural support.
C The second floor rooms, previously filled with mechanical equipment, are cleaned out and new finishes are applied, as well as new openings cut to allow a view down onto the main office area
D. New custom casework, floor finishes, demising walls, lighting, acoustic baffles, mechanical systems and openings, all transform the former production space into a sleek and modern open office.
