Form & Spaces
Form and Spaces was the first project in Architectural Design 1. The initial assignment was to manually sketch the floor plan of the Katsura Imperial Villa located in Kyoto, Japan and a section of the Jami Masjid of Ahmedad located in India. I was then instructed to choose one of the two sketches and create a analytical study. The intention of the first part of the project, was to introduce spatial elements and concepts. Emphasis was placed on the use of architectural ordering principles which encouraged the understanding of geometry, spaces, scale, proportion, and order.

Analytical Study Sketch Media: Rapidographs and Prismacolor Pencils on Mylar
In my first diagrammatic study, I focused on analyzing the different interior and exterior spaces. The colors used differentiated the circulation along with the interior and exterior spaces. The orange represents the circulation, the gray represents the interior spaces and the yellow the exterior spaces.
In my second diagrammatic study I focused on analyzing the different types of spaces. The color orange shows the circulation as well as the most active spaces of the floor plan. The gray shows the different categories of spaces from the most private (darkest gray) to the most public (light gray). The brown indicates the exterior public space.

Model Media : Basswood, Chipboard, Acrylic, & Museum Board The second part of the project further explores the dynamic relationship between the spaces. Two diagrammatical elevations were drawn following the same analytical language as the first part of the project. This part included other aspects like layers, systems, geometry, scale, volumes, etc. The final model expands on the essential elements learned throughout Design 1. This part of the project completed the analysis. The elevations were merged to create a spacial mapping. This mapping was used to inspire the design of the physical model.

In Design 2 the project took a look at two architects, Le Corbusier and Andrea Palladio. An in depth analysis of the architect’s work was done and viewed from different conditions; plan, section, and elevation.

Professor: Edward Mendez Miami Dade College
The project included a substaintial emphasis on the development of hand drawings, the study of the golden section, and Le Corbusier’s modular system.
During the analysis I worked to discover parts of the project neither architects thought of creating. I used architectural vocabulary to analyze the original architect’s design and acheived diagrammatical drawings.

Matrix
Planar System
In this part of the project two Linear cubes were created using the diagrammatical sketch of both buildings. Each building had three analysis. Each analysis sketch represented an axis X, Y and Z. The axis was used to create two three dimensional cubes that connected with a threshold to create the matrix.
A spacial composition was created based on the matrix model. The composition has indirect relation with the linear elements and intersections found in the matrix model. The relation was represented through a series of planar systems that moved to create spaces.

The next step in the project required a three dimensional digital model. The digital platform allowed for deeper develpment of space. A datum was created, shown in red, as the hierarchial element of the project. The datum was the main element that supported my entire composition.

This was the first Design 3 project. A conceptual study of Miami’s downtown area lead to an understanding of the city’s dynamics. In this investigation we were asked to study a specific zone of a very diverse urban context. I analyzed the natural
elements, tectonic details, cultural diversity, functionality of exclusive conditions, scale and any other contextual aspects that could complement my design ideas.

Final Composition
Model Media : Basswood, Acrylic, & Museum Board
The final construct was a result of the Downtown Miami urban study. I was given predetermined programmatic parameters and limitations. This gave me the opportunity to define the location of where my project would be located as well as the elements I would you use to design the gateway.
This project inspired me to create a natural gateway that connected the bayside to the busiest part of the area. It incorporated a large facade that would represent large interactive information screens that act as billboards; that would display not only ads but art. The program of the project was a civic center, cultural center, educational and professional spaces.
Folding Plane Process Models Media: 8x8 Cardstock Paper
A study of the negative and positive spaces within the boundaries of the ground plane lead to folding planes. One hundred folding plane process models were made.
The technique involved making five lines within the paper then cutting and folding the paper to create spaces. This taught me to manipulate the ground plane.
The first step in the project allowed for the creation of simple spaces. Also, this allowed me to manipulate the ground plane in different process compositions.

This process compositions would later develop into the final project. Three folding plane compositions were chosen to be merged together. They were then further developed and created a more complex composition.

The program for this project was to create a gateway access through the water front. Since Museam Park is located on the water front, it allowed constant water access from both boats and sea planes. The seaport is located across the Port of Miami and gives visiting tourist a welcoming view.

The project’s design to include an information center was to add resources to both the community and tourist. The information center included a high technology visual resource center, cafes, study and studio spaces, and a large recreational space. It was designed to engage the community and tourists.

The project gave me the ability to create a new art center to exhibit both contemporary and modern art. The focus of my design was to give the public exhibition spaces to showcase their artwork. My design included an outdoor amphitheater as well as visual media theater that added a communal recreational space.

Architecture Study Abroad
Summer 2016 Prof. Mario F. Ortega
The Europe and Asia Architecture study abroad program was a travel oportunity which included lectures, seminars and visits to buildings and public spaces in, Spain, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Petra and United Arab Emerites. The program began prior to the departure with group meetings and in class discussions of the logistics of our travels along with lectures, research and assignments required during the study abroad. I began with an indepth research that included information of all the places to be visited, maps, and overall information of the cities and countries visited. I took three courses; Cities of the World, Architectural Theory and Architectural Presentation. The work required included: assignment readings, a final presentation on the sites visited, a written and visual comparison reaserch paper,

I used to only take pictures of the important moments in my life. I used to carefully choose what moments were worth taking. As my love for photography has grown I have realized I like capturing every detail. Photos have other meaningful uses besides simply capturing a memory.
They transport people to locations they could never dream of going, or help someone understand the troubles and wonders on opposite sides of the world. They elicit a reaction, whether it be a laugh at an amusing expression, or anger at a terrain ravaged by war. Photography is universal in what people can physically see, but incredibly individual in how they make someone feel. I use photography to transport memories through time, and to document moments in time that otherwise might be forgotten. I use photography to document details and to capture perspectives that someone might not have even noticed. I love photography

Media: Pentax K-r 18-55mm Software: Photoshop and Illustrator Since I was a little girl I was known to be a creative artistic person. I have always used different types of medias to convey my art. I enjoy creating both liberal art like poems and stories, as well as visual art. I am not the best artist in the world but I enjoy drawing, painting, and creating. I enjoy expressing myself using different materials. My favorite type of materials are: Acrylic paint, pastels, string, mixed media, photo transfers, and arts and crafts.
