Reconstructionist College to honor Kripkes
Anne Broder to chair Federation annual meeting
The Reconstructionist Rabbinical College has received a gift of nearly $1 million from Rabbi Meyer and Dorothy Kripke. Designated for scholarships, the gift is the second in a series of plannedgifts announced by the Kripkes in recent months. Since Rabbi and Mrs. Kripke both benefited from highly subsidized Jewish educations, they want to ensure that others will share their good fortune, noted Dr. David Teutsch, RRC president. In light of a lifetime of Jewish leadership and commitment to RRC,3he RRC will confer.the college's highest award, the Keter Shem Tov Award, to Dorothy Kripke at graduation on June 1. Rabbi Kripke will accept the award on his wife's behalf. The Kripkes' ties to the Reconstructionist movement date back to the rabbi's student days at the' Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) where he was a student of Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, the founder of Reconstructionism. . The first gift announced by the Kripkes was a $7 million gift to JTS to restore the Seminary Tower for housing and classrooms. The funds are from the Kripkes' holding of Berkshire Hathaway stock bought in 1972 from their neighbors, financier Warren Buffet and his wife, Susie.
