Goldbergs to chair Super Sunday By Barbara Chandler Federation public relations director Cindy and Bruce Goldberg will chair Super Sunday for the 1995 UJA/Federation Campaign. On Sunday, Dec. 11, members of the Super Sunday Division will be called by volunteers and asked to make their pledges to the 1996 Campaign. A letter has been sent to the division Cindy Goldberg ^ ^^^^ those donors who wish to make their pledges by mail may do so. Idelman Telemarketing is generously providing the telephone banks for the volunteers, and Sheri Idelman and Barry Siff will be training the callers. Mr. and Mrs. Goldberg have been actively involved in the campaign for several years, serving as solicitors, captains and division chairmen. "We both grew up in Omaha with strong roots and background in the Jewish community," remarked Mr. Goldberg. "We are very excited to be chairing Super Sunday and to learn more about this part of Bruce Goldberg the campaign." Super Sunday steering committee members are Kimberly Robinson, David Goldberg, Tom Vann, Nancy and Joel Schlessinger, Susan and Andrew Friedman and Deb Goldstein. "The steering committee is helping to recruit volunteers to make calls on Super Sunday and they are also planning hospitality for the callers," explained Mr. Goldberg. As part of the Super Sunday activities, students in Omaha and Council Bluffs religious schools have been asked to make posters about tzedakah. Mrs. Goldberg explained that the posters will be displayed at the JCC and will be used to decorate the calling area on Super Sunday. *It is so important to get children involved at a young age so that they can learn about tzedakah and the campaign," she said. *We know all the volunteers will be moved by the children's drawings." Fund raising executives honor Milton R. Abrahams By Morris Maline Milton R. Abrahams will be honored as 'Philanthropist of the Year" by the Nebraska Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives, during a luncheon at the Highland Country Club, Nov. 16 at noon. Mr. Abrahams, 89, is an attorney with the Milton R. Abrahams firm of Abrahams, Kaslow & Cassman. A native of Omaha, he is a graduate of Creighton University, A.B. and J.D. The Society is a professional organization whose members are engaged in fund raising management for not-for-profit organizations. The annual awards program recognizes outstanding achievements in the field. Mr. Abrahams' award will be presented by Helen Cherniack. Other award recipients will be the Rev, Dr. Rueben T. Swanson, volunteer of the year, and J. Robert Sandberg, lifetime achievement award. The citation, provided by the Society for Mr, Abraham, includes the following: "For half a century, people have looked to Milton R. Sandra McCreight receives award Sandra Schapiro McCreight was recently informed of her selection as the recipient of the National Association of Biology Teachers, Outstanding New Biology Teachers Adiievement Award. Ms. McCreight teaches integrated science to freshman and Advanced Placement Biology to juniors and seniors at Omaha North High School. She will receive a plaque at the NABTs national convention in St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 18. She was selected to write integrated curriculum for the National Science Foundation and has presented several workshops at the local, state and national levels. She is the faculty sponsor for North High's Blood Drive which won the Outstanding High School award this past spring for the five-state area. She is a faculty co-sponsor for North High's Elementary Science Field Day where high school students mentor elementary students for a day of H science at North High. fl Ms. McCreight is also the conch of eight Odyu«y of the Mind teams at North and recently conducted a coaches' training workshop at WMtside Middle School.
