honoring Meversonj Mort Trachtenbarg, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation, has announced the establishment of the Herman and Mary Meyerson Fund, the income from which will be made available annually to aid in the support of programs of the Bureau of Jewish Education which foster or enhance the quality of Jewish education in the Omaha metropolitan area. The Herman and Mary Meyerson Fund was created by a contribution to the Federation by John and Gwen Smart, of Greenwich, Conn., in' memory of Mrs. Smart's parents, long-time residents of Omaha and Council Bluffs, who for many years operated a retail grocery store in Council Bluffs. Mrs. Smart, a native of Council Bluffs, and her sisters Mildred Frankel and Pearl Marcus of Omaha and Florence Frischer of Kansas City, recalled their parents' strong interest in Jewish education and observed that the Herman and Mary Meyerson Fund, through its annual support of the Bureau's educational programs, would provide an active and continuing memorial to their parents. Mr. Meyerson was active in the Council Bluffs Jewish community for many years, serving as president of the synagogue and as an officer of B'nai B'rith. Mrs. Meyerson was active in the synagogue sisterhood and Hadassah. '
