Meel Bella and Noah Gorovitz. They have just arrived in Israel from Russia, after three years of waiting. They know their life will be difficult for awhile learning a new culture, becoming integrated, learn ing Hebrew. Their older son, Yacov, once came home from kindergarten in Russia asking why he was called "Jew"' what is bad about being a Jew'
old NailOoepar. IfTI Chairman, Youi« Laaderridp Cabkwt
Bella and Noah decided they should live in their country, where they would not be ashamed of being Jewish. Your dollars will help Bella, Noah, Yacov and baby Misha, immediately.

Through the Jewish Agency, the Gorovitz family will move to an apartment in an ab sorption center - a housing complex for Israeli newcomers. There Bella and Noah will attend an Ulpan's intensive Hebrew classes. Yacov will attend a special chil dren's school to learn Hebrew.
Eventually Noah will work as a tinsmith, Bella wants to gel a |0b as a bookkeeper At the absorption center where Bella, Noah and the children will live for nearly a year, your dollars will help to provide ev erything they need for life an apart ment, basic household furnishings, Ian guage classes and a subsistance allowance until Noah begins to work The Jewish Agency paid $2500 lo trans port the Gorovitz family to Israel and $2000 to secure their release, gam travel permits, exit visas and passports. After 2 Of 3 years, when Noah and Bella, Yacov and Misha are complete Israelis, your dollars will have helped offset the nearly $75,000 in costs for their immigra tion, absorption and settlement services fyJoah said, "Israel is good They help a person from Russia )ust because he is here and has the right to be absorbed in Israel. And there is the Jewish Agency here which is always going to help you "
Your dollars make good things happen. Just ask Bella and Noah. *i It's Up to Us

How your dollars to the Omaha Federation Campaign give Jewish life to Mira and Yasha
rbVMMlCCVHINBS MlhiH'WthlCfanI ];ih I Douglas 5«UM«pla •IM LirKoln, Haillngt Grand liland. Kaorncy
Lmbrdlas for savers!
Meet Mira and Yasha Kasakov. They are one of 11 Russian families in Omaha who have become Omahans and Americans because of yotir dollars.
Yasha, after 12 weeks, got a decent job as a television repairman. Mira is learning to be a typist Natasha is a high school junior and works part time as a nurse's aide
What's more, they have become free Mira said, "Once in the Kiev synagogue I watched an American woman speak to an old man. 'Do you speak Yiddish'' she asked him. He shook his head 'yes' and began to cry and then shook his head no' to stop her from talking Just then a K.G.B. man came up, took his arm and walked him away."
Your dollars pay for an intensive 16 week English course at UNO for our new Rus sian cousins, pay for their rent, food, clothing, household utensils, furniture, bus fare, doctors and dentists, In short your dollars give them the means to LIFE.
Yasha and Mira wanted better things for themselves and their teenage daughter, Natasha. They applied for an exit visa two years before it was granted; Yasha was fired from his job and they spent their savings while waiting to leave. Through the SOVIET RESETTLEMENT COMMITTEE, a part of Jewish Family Service, your dollars helped to support Mira, Yasha and Natasha until they could speak English and find jobs.
Most Omaha Russian families are nearly self supporting in 4 months. Until then, the Jewish community spends about $4700 to house, clothe and feed them This year the Federation expects to wel come 18 additional Russian Jews, with the help of the Federal government. Your dollars will contribute $13,000 to that cost. Your dollars - and equally important your welcoming are part of what makes us a Jewish family. You are partners in the historic process of the rescue of your brothers and sisters, the world over
Your dollars make good things happen. Just ask Mira and Yasha •^5
