Mr. Jacob S. Pearlstien, 36, of New York City, who becomes executive director of the Omaha Jewish Community Center and Welfare Federation for one year during the leave of absence granted to Dr. Samuel Gerson,

at Harvard in the fields of history and politics, being an assistant in Political Science in the University of Michigan and also an assistant in the history department at Harvard. But Mr. Pearlstien's social service background is also .convincing. He started his social service work in Boston as community director of,the Dorchester Welfare Center. He then became supervisor of the Boys' Welfare Department at Detroit, dealing mainly with the delinquincies of youngsters. This was followed by his appointment as associate director of the Jewish Centers Association in Detroit.
