Educator Named to Lead New Chapter in Omaha Jewish Education by SHERRIE SAAG Center for Jewish Education With the new Omaha Jewish Community High School set to open its doors on September 1, of paramount importance was the hiring of a school director with the skills and knowledge to lead the education of Omaha’s Jewish teens. As many Jewish educators, rabbis and community leaders can attest, inspiring, stimulating, and engaging Jewish teenagers – or any teenagers for that matter – certainly poses a unique set of challenges. That the Community Miriam Gross High School Search Committee found its perfect candidate right here in town is truly beshert – meant to be. Miriam Gross began her new position as Community High School Director on Monday, July 5. She holds a BA in Judaic Studies from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey and a Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Boston. In addition to her academic credentials, the search committee was very impressed with Ms. Gross’s work and teaching experience in all three major branches of Judaism as well as pluralistic institutions. “Miriam’s experience teaching in school settings ranging from Orthodox to Conservative to Reform, is a huge asset for Continued on page 2
