Swimming at Camp Swimming at Camp

wim time during summer is certainly a highlight of the day! Campers ill have the opportunity to swim every day in either our heated junior lympic pool (3 - 5 feet deep) or our wading pool (2 1/2 feet deep).

ater safety is of utmost importance to us and that is why all staff are CPR and first aid certified and are trained in water safety Our camperto-staff ratios are the strictest during pool time and lifeguards are always on duty

Campers who pass the swim test are allowed in the deep end of the pool. Campers can opt out of the swim test if they would prefer to stay in the shallow end of the big pool or the wading pool The swim test is demonstrating the ability to swim from one end of the pool to the other without stopping or requiring assistance.

InstructionalSwim

Our aquatics department runs private and group swim lessons throughout summer for an added fee Swim lessons can be scheduled during the camp day and we will take care of escorting and picking up your camper from their swim lesson.

LegoRobotWorld&RobotSportsChallenge

(Week5:7/24-7/28& Week8:8/14-8/18)(K-1st)

In this camp, Lego engineers are captivated and challenged by building motorized, robotic machines with Lego technic parts (yes, they really can build them!). Our engineers then imagine a world in which their walking robot, helicopter, motorboat, gear car, windmill or other robotic device exists and functions. Their creativity is ignited further by building the house, heliport, or dock for their motorized creations

RoboticsandEngineering&ExperimentalPhysics

(Week5:7/24-7/28&Week8:8/14-8/18)PMCamp

Machines with Lego takes student engineers a step or two beyond the complexity of Lego Robots & Awesome Machines. For example, instead of using one motor and a battery pack for cars and battle tanks, students utilize twin motors to enable rack & pinion steering for cars and skid steering for battle tanks. Motors are also used to construct generators that function as remote controls. Although not necessary, this class is best suited for students who have experience with Lego motors and Technic parts.

Shlichim: Israeli Shlichim: Israeli Counselors Counselors

WhatareShlichim?

Shlichim translates literally to "emissaries" but more commonly refers to Israeli staff members at non-Israeli camps In partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel, Camp Komaroff will proudly be welcoming two to three Shlichim, camp counselors from Israel, for summer 2023. In addition to familiar summer camp duties, these counselors will also have a special role in educating campers and staff alike on Israeli culture, music, art, language, and food. These activities often become some of the most memorable of the summer.

PastShlichim

Previous shlichim at Camp Komaroff have all come from diverse backgrounds. From theatrical performers to university students and youth movement activists, this program provides a window for campers to see the wider world beyond Long Beach
