A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP As Israel continues to navigate war and recovery, antisemitism remains elevated, and the need for connection, security, and support continues to grow, the importance of a strong, and forward-looking Jewish community has never been clearer. This year, Jewish Federation of Broward County stayed true to its core leadership role of bringing people together, mobilizing resources, and strengthening the systems that sustain Jewish life. Together with our community partners, we supported those in need, enhanced security, invested in Jewish life, stood with Israel, and helped ensure that Jewish Broward remains strong and resilient in a time of uncertainty. But this year was about more than responding to the challenges of the moment. It was about preparing for what comes next. Building on the aspirations shared through our transformative strategy, Ignite Broward, our Task Forces spent the year helping shape a roadmap for the future of Jewish Broward, one focused on expanding access, deepening connection, strengthening care, building Jewish identity, and increasing our community’s capacity to thrive. Most importantly, we moved from vision to investment. Federation announced the creation of the $5 million Ignite Broward Impact Fund, a bold commitment to creating new pathways into Jewish life, fostering collaboration, and strengthening communal infrastructure. That is what makes this year different. We continued to meet the needs of today while actively building for tomorrow. The pages that follow tell the story of what we accomplished together this year, the momentum we are building, and the extraordinary opportunities that lie ahead for Jewish Broward. Thank you for helping make it possible. With gratitude,

SETH WISE AUDRA P. BERG Board Chair President & CEO

We are building relationships, strengthening civic partnerships, securing Jewish institutions, and ensuring our community’s voice is heard with purpose, respect, and impact.” — PA U L ROS E N B E RG, Board Member and Chair, Government Affairs

I G N I T E B ROW A RD : B U I L D I N G O U R F U T U RE This year marked a defining milestone in the Ignite Broward journey. After listening to more than 1,400 community members and developing seven Bold Aspirational Statements to guide the future of Jewish Broward, Federation shifted from listening to implementation. More than 100 volunteer leaders, clergy, professionals, and community members came together through our Ignite Broward Task Forces to develop recommendations that are now shaping a roadmap for the future of Jewish Broward. The goal is not simply to launch new initiatives, but to build a Jewish community that is more welcoming, connected, collaborative, and equipped to thrive for generations to come. Focused on expanding access, deepening connections, strengthening care, building Jewish identity, and increasing community capacity, the implementation strategy will guide investments and integrate individual initiatives into a coordinated approach that strengthens the Jewish Broward ecosystem and moves us closer to the community’s shared vision for the future.

ACCESS Making it easier for people to find, enter, and participate in Jewish life.

CONNECTION Building relationships, belonging, and stronger community.

CAPACITY Strengthening the organizations, partnerships, leadership, and infrastructure that make a thriving Jewish community possible.

JEWISH IDENTITY

CARE

Inspiring meaningful Jewish learning, experiences, leadership, and connection to Israel.

Ensuring individuals and families can access the support they need throughout life’s journey.

With the recent creation of our $5 million Ignite Broward Impact Fund, we will begin bringing these recommendations to life. Ignite Broward is no longer a planning process. It is a community-wide commitment to turning vision into action and building a stronger, more connected, and more vibrant Jewish Broward. 9

Ignite Broward began by asking our community what the future should look like. Today, we are investing in making that future a reality. 10

C A RI N G F O R P E O P L E I N N E E D At the heart of Federation’s work is a simple but powerful belief: no one in Jewish Broward should face hardship alone. Every day, Federation strengthens the network of agencies, programs, and partnerships that help individuals and families navigate life’s challenges with dignity, stability, and hope. From food assistance and emergency financial support to senior care, mental health services, disability inclusion, and Holocaust survivor support, we invest in the systems of care our community depends on. As needs continued to grow this year, Federation expanded its investments in coordinated services that not only respond to today’s challenges, but build a stronger safety net for the future.

Areas of Impact • Emergency assistance • Housing stabilization • Elder care and home care • Trauma-informed mental health services • Respite care and inclusion initiatives

• Support for individuals with disabilities and special needs • Food security and wellness programs • Support for Holocaust survivors • Family crisis intervention services

Together with our agencies and community partners, we are ensuring that help is available when it is needed most, and that every person has the opportunity to live with dignity, security, and connection.

Caring for people in need is more than a service we provide; it is a promise we make to one another. 12

E M E RG E N CY RES P O NS E : H OW Y O U A RE M A KI N G A N I M PA C T On October 7, 2023, Jewish communites around the world awoke with horror and disbelief as we learned that terrorists from Gaza had infiltrated Israel. More than 1,200 innocent Israelis lost their lives, 251 Israelis and people of other nationalities were abducted and taken hostage in Gaza, and nearly 2,000 people were wounded during the brutal terror attacks. Our hearts were shattered, but from grief and anger emerged a shared determination to ensure the people of Israel could feel the strength, warmth, and unwavering support of their North American Jewish family. The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) launched in full force, assessing needs, connecting with NGOs on the ground, and coordinating in real time with foundations and the Israeli government. We raised an incredible amount of funding—over $900 million—making a significant impact. Above and beyond contributing funds to the JFNA Israel Emergency Campaign, the Jewish Federation of Broward has made grants directly to partners in Israel.

I M M E D I A T E E M E RG E N CY S U P P O RT The Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) The Jewish Agency for Israel is providing immediate critical support to Israelis affected by terror and war, including victims and their families, new olim, older adults, and Holocaust survivors living in conflict zones. Through its Fund for Victims of Terror, the Jewish Agency is delivering direct financial aid while also helping meet urgent needs for housing, food, activities, security, economic assistance, and other essential services. The Jewish Agency is also supporting the spouses of IDF reservists who own small businesses through direct financial aid, ongoing business mentoring, and emotional support. The Jewish Federation of Broward County contributed funds to this program to assist participants in our Partnership City of Nesher.

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) JDC is caring for those who have no one else to turn to: vulnerable seniors, people with disabilities, children and young adults at risk, families in financial distress, and the unemployed. Jewish Federation emergency support will enable JDC to respond to the unique needs of these special populations as well as the southern communities, the residents and leadership, to advance efforts of restoring personal security, ensuring access to government benefits, embracing vulnerable populations, strengthening local leadership and resources, and providing multifaceted care for youth. JDC is also providing training and counseling to frontline professionals to ensure they have the support they need to continue their important work. 16

Support has been provided through three emergency grants totaling $122,748 to ensure resources were available to: • Comprehensive first aid kits with supplies that enable medical personnel to address critical needs. • Activities and programs for children and youth. • Educational therapeutic intervention supporting educators, parents, and children to address mental health challenges and emotional distress. Virtual gatherings and celebrations continue as our deep connection—people to people—remains a priority.

We are proud to share that 75% of the 2026 grants supported Jewish organizations locally, nationally, and in Israel, helping care for people in need, strengthen Jewish life, respond to crises, and build a vibrant Jewish future. • Increase unrestricted giving to meet growing community needs and invest in our highest priorities.

• Support vulnerable individuals and families through a coordinated network of care and essential services.

• Expand security services, strengthen crisis readiness, and ensure every Jewish institution has access to the protection and support it needs.

• Embed inclusivity, belonging, and accessibility across everything we fund, convene, and deliver.

• Lead the community’s response to antisemitism by building strong public-private partnerships and advancing advocacy and education.

• Invest in a more connected, resilient, and vibrant Jewish future.

New and Expanded Initiatives This year, we are expanding that impact through new grants, new partnerships, and strategic investments that will help our community thrive for generations to come. For example, we are proud to be supporting these programs that address the evolving needs of our community: • AKIM – Enables adults with intellectual disabilities to secure and maintain competitive employment within Israel’s open labor market. • Beit Issie Shapiro – Provides personalized assistive technology and smart-home solutions that help wounded veterans regain independence and rebuild daily life after injury. • Chabad of North Broward (Parkland) – Supporting the Friendship Bakery, a training program for adults with disabilities, complemented by a range of enrichment activities that build skills and confidence. • Chabad of South Broward – Meaningful social, educational, and volunteer experiences for teens that build community and strengthen their Jewish identity. • Chai Lifeline – i-Shine, a weekly after-school mentoring program for elementary and middle school girls who have a parent or sibling battling cancer, offering care, stability, and connection.

“For those of us who survived October 7, the trauma is present every day… HaGal Sheli (My Wave) gave me a safe space. In the water, facing the waves and facing myself, I find many moments when I am able to be present. There are many among us living with an invisible wound and fighting every day just to feel normal again.”

—EDEN SHMUEL,

Nova Festival survivor and participant in HaGal Sheli’s Tools From the Waves trauma therapy program.

O U R PA RT N E RS F E D E RA T I O N - F U N D E D A G E N C I ES & P RO G RA MS Federation’s greatest impact is made possible through the strength of our partners, and we are proud of the significant growth on this front. Since 2020, our annual campaign has generated a 70% increase toward allocated funding, and our foundation funding from special purpose and supplemental funds has increased by 46%. Together with our agencies, schools, synagogues, and community organizations, we are strengthening Jewish life across Broward County by providing care for those in need, creating opportunities for connection and belonging, and preparing our community for the future. The work ahead is ambitious, but we are building it together. Every partnership we strengthen, every program we invest in, and every new initiative we launch helps create a Jewish Broward that is more connected, more inclusive, more resilient, and better prepared for the generations to come. We are proud to support over 160 programs through: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
