The Jewish Alliance Annual Campaign raises money to support Jewish life in Rhode Island, in Israel, and across the globe. Honoring the Jewish values of compassion, generosity, and responsibility, our donors make it possible for us to fund more than 300 programs and services worldwide. In fact, many of the opportunities listed throughout this guide are made possible by your support to the Annual Campaign. To keep our community strong, we sustain the people who make it great - through every stage of life. Together, we give our children an excellent education that is built on a solid foundation of Jewish identity. We share Jewish culture so that we as a people will remain valued and relevant. We take care of the most vulnerable among us, including our seniors, by providing meals and emergency funding. We continue to fight anti-Semitism across the globe and assist Jewish communities, such as those in the Ukraine and Cuba, facing turbulence and upheaval. In addition to the Annual Campaign, which sustains our community from year to year, our Philanthropy Department also raises funds for major endeavors. One of those projects is Living on the Edge, our anti-poverty initiative that assists those who are trying to meet basic needs and help them work towards a sustainable solution. We are also in the midst of a capital campaign to renovate and modernize the Dwares JCC in order to continue serving the community. In all of these ways, and more, we are making a difference in the world. Learn more at jewishallianceri.org. SAVE THE DATE: Good Deeds Day Sunday, April 2 | Various locations throughout the state Good Deeds Day is a global initiative that unites people from over 75 countries to do good deeds for the benefit of others and the planet. Research has found that reading to your baby provides the exposure to language that can positively influence learning throughout the rest of his/her life. It also helps form special bonds between you and your child. PJ Library books provide an excellent opportunity to start reading with your child, while also exposing them to the traditions and values of Judaism.

Why choose the David C. Isenberg Family Early Childhood Center (ECC)? Our program is designed for children to develop a love for life-long learning and the knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviors necessary to achieve optimal wellness. The ECC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), BrightStars (Rhode Island’s tiered quality and rating service), and the Department of Children,Youth, and Families (DCYF). Many of our teachers hold advanced degrees in the field of early childhood. We have a nurse on site and our entire staff is trained in first aid and CPR. Daily kosher vegetarian snacks and meals are included in the cost of tuition and are created in-house by our lead and assistant chefs. We also have an active Parent Committee, who offers a series of family fun activities each school year. The Parent Committee is dedicated to expanding children’s development through resource enrichment, community building and sustained growth. All events are part of the Parent Committee’s annual effort to raise funds to supplement school resources and fund community events.

Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy (LKSA) offers a learn-to-swim program for children of all ages. Started in 2005 by four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Lenny Krayzelburg, its “core purpose is to teach and inspire children to be water safe.” Since its inception, they have taught thousands of children water safety and the importance of knowing how to swim. Using the SwimRight® Method, they utilize the swim-float-swim technique as a foundation and focus on providing children with the knowledge of confidence and safety in and around the water. Students progress from the beginning stages of swimming to learning all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. All of our instructors are certified in the SwimRight® Method. Starting as young as three months old, children learn to swim at their own pace. After a free evaluation, swimmers are assigned to a particular swim level. Students are then taught using the SwimRight® Method, which focuses on correct body positioning and alignment from the very beginning. Progress is recorded in a personal swim journal with the use of positive reinforcement and fun exercises. As each swimmer advances, he/she participates in safety tests to demonstrate his/her proficiency in their ability and technique. Using an exceptional education system designed around swimming fundamentals and emphasizing water safety, three types of lessons are offered: • Parent/Toddler lessons (maximum: 8 per class) • Group (maximum: 4 – 8 per class based on level) • Private Lessons We strongly suggest that students take at least one class per week, year-round. Consistency is one of the most important factors towards becoming proficient and gaining confidence in the water. Every swimmer must register for a free initial level evaluation. We do it every day. As part of the Jewish Federation system, we touch more Jewish lives on the planet than any other organization. In places like Ukraine, elderly Jews with no pension would have to choose between buying medicine and heating their homes — if we weren’t there to help them. Or in Cuba, without us, there would be no Jewish learning opportunities, rabbis, or holiday celebrations. Wherever there is need — when a family in Rhode Island can’t afford to pay for Jewish camp, when a single mother loses her job, or a senior needs human warmth and help around the house — we are there to sustain and strengthen Jewish life.

THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE Through our own programs and services, and those of our partners both locally and globally, we do so much to strengthen Jewish life... But there’s so much more to be done.

To learn more or to donate today, visit us at jewishallianceri.org or call 401.421.4111.
