Dear Friend, Our Jewish Alliance’s 2017 Campaign theme was “the POWER to make a DIFFERENCE,” and that very ideal was demonstrated by your generosity. Donors like you are changing lives each and every day, year after year. Thanks to your support, we influence the future here in Rhode Island, in Israel, and around the world.

But it is not only about how many dollars we’ve raised—it’s about the lives we touch. We are the primary gateway to Jewish engagement by connecting young families to each other and to the community, and inspiring them to explore opportunities to participate in Jewish life through Jewish camping, PJ Library, and other networking opportunities. Through our Living on the Edge Initiative, we continue to create a community-wide safety net for the economically vulnerable and many others who need financial and emotional support. Our beautifully renovated Dwares JCC allows us to leverage our strengths and deliver exceptional educational, social, cultural, and wellness programs to meet our community’s changing needs. From this building emanates the core of the Alliance mission. Our reach extends to Jews in all corners of the state and the world, educating children in Providence and Afula, Israel; feeding seniors in Cranston and those isolated in Odessa; fostering Jewish life in Rhode Island and the renewal of Jewish life in Eastern Europe.

We are shaping our future and creating a Jewish community filled with joy and meaning, purpose and engagement, philanthropy and activism—a community that will provide a strong Jewish identity for our children and grandchildren.

As we look toward what’s to come, our community’s power will continue to make a difference.

The Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, with the support of Alan Hassenfeld, commissioned Brandeis University’s Steinhardt Social Research Institute to put together a report entitled Living on the Edge: Economic Insecurity among Jewish Households in Greater Rhode Island. The research showed that half of the Jewish households in communities served by the Alliance face economic difficulties.
