Vicky Yorke is a British Surface Pattern Designer and Illustrator working from her home studio on the Isle Of Portland, Dorset. She creates playful designs that bring fun and warmth to everyday living.
Vicky uses illustration and typography combined with striking colour palettes to make work that is decorative, bright and inviting. She is often inspired by the beautiful countryside and coast that surrounds her home to create modern Art Nouveau designs. As an expert in trend prediction, Vicky takes popular icons and interprets them in her own unique style to create designs that make fresh and desirable retail products. Collections include vibrant florals and woodland animals, as well as coastal and tropical patterns.
Living with a number of chronic illnesses, Vicky is an advocate for both physical and mental well-being. Through her designs she aims to promote kindness and inclusivity and to spread a little bit of positivity back into the world. That may be through a bold empowering slogan or through a beautiful flower illustration, but either way, Vicky hopes her designs project a little bit of joy.
In 2025, Vicky’s design work was recognised as industry leading when her greetings card collaboration with Legacy Publishing won a LOUIE award in the category of ‘Trends & Events’.

ARTISTIC PROCESS - a case study
1) INSPIRATION
Designs often begin with inspiration from nature. This was during a trip to Norway where I photographed everything that caught my eye. There was a lot!
3) DIGITAL COLOURING & PATTERN MAKING
Designs are vectorized, made fully editable and factory-ready with Pantone references supplied for ease of use.
2) studio sketching
Back in the studio every design begins as a hand drawing or painting. I use charcoal most frequently, but also ink and paint as I reinterpret icons from my photographs.
4) sold on qvc!
These patterns were licensed onto home textiles and sold as part of an exclusive QVC ‘Christmas in July’ Artist Series collection.
