“ECO Advanced toners are a Genuin
NEW LOOK Multi Factory sourcing. Factory and Local testing. Big Factory back up.
Standard Series
ne Alternative to the Original Brand Nelson Falls, Tasmania.
The ECO Advanced competitive difference in having a high quality and reliable product starts with selecting, checking and matching the best components and combining those parts with a superior process assembly, backed up with a QC checking procedure.
IMPORTANCE OF THE Organic photo-conductor ( OPC )
A multi-film layered aluminum drum, precision ground to extremely close tolerances .OPC drums serve as a receiver of the negative charge needed to transfer the toner to the paper. The drum has an aluminum substrate that allows it to hold these charges, temporarily attracting the toner powder to it before transferring it to the page. Each drum has three coating layers that serve different purposes.
Primary charge roller (PCR)
The PCR is a rubber roller located inside the toner cartridge that performs two functions. The first is to place a primary charge on the surface of the drum so that the laser from the printer can write to it. The second is to help erase any residual charges left on the drum surface after printing.
Developer or Magnetic roller
Transfers toner to the OPC Drum. The Developer Roller moves toner to the OPC drum and helps prepare the toner to be used.
Doctor blade
Ensures the precise amount of toner is always distributed to the Developer or Magnetic Roller.
Wiper blade
Stays in constant contact with drum and wipes away any residual toner.
Toner hopper
Small container built into the casing which houses the toner that is applied to the page.
Waste bin
Collects the residual toner wiped from the OPC Drum. Because the toner powered has been charged the residual powder can no longer be used.

E RIGHT COMPONENTS
All the parts must syncronise and work together as a group. One cheap part can spoil the print or lead to low page yields and waste.
PAGE YIELD VARIABLES Page coverage % of ink or toner on each page. 80% image coverage will mean far less pages than 5% coverage
Image type ( toner )
Two pages with the same percentage of coverage but different patterns. Images composed of lots of edges (like dot patterns), a different amount of toner may be used. The thickness of the toner layer deposited on the paper is often different on edges than in the middle of printed areas.
Print Job size
The number of pages printed at a time has an impact on print cartridge yields. Typically, print cartridge yields improve with a higher average job size. One three-page print job conserves yield better than three one-page print jobs.
Duplex mode and paper tray / exit bin selection
In an effect similar to that produced by small job sizes, printing in duplex mode (two-sided printing) or selecting paper trays or exit bins that are located farther from the print cartridges can induce toner loss due to increased machine run time per page printed.
Heat and Humidity
Hotter temperature and or higher humidity, lower page yield. For inkjet over time you get evaporation and more blockages. For toner more powder is transferred during printing.
Cartridge Handling at end of life ( toner )
Some cartridges require a shake when “toner low” is reported or when print begins to fade to redistribute the toner within the cartridge and ensure maximum cartridge life is achieved. Customers who don’t perform this recommended step and instead replace the cartridge at the initial toner low signal, may discard a significant amount of usable toner that remains in the cartridge.
Calibration
Some laser printers and MFPs use a calibration procedure to improve print quality and maintain print consistency throughout the life of the device. Calibration cycles use a small amount of toner each time they occur. Factors such as a large number of power-on and power-off cycles, cartridge movement from device to device, and abrupt or frequent changes in office temperature can increase calibration frequency.
Power on printer time without printing
Some laser printers will cycle or “jog” at preset intervals when idle or at rest to maintain cartridge quality. While the number of jogs is kept to a minimum, each one may result in a small loss of usable toner. Devices powered on for long periods of time without printing can reduce the amount of toner available for printing.
Spot colour
Printing a small amount of color on pages that are mostly black and white requires the color device to engage its color print supplies.
Copy and fax mode
Toner usage in copy or fax mode for MFPs is different than in direct printer mode. The scanning process of a document and the application of a number of image adjustment features (e.g. copy darkness and sharpness) can result in output that has more or less actual coverage than the original being scanned.
BRAND VARIABLES Factors that can change yield between brands Quality of Toner powder used.
Lower quality toner and or Pulverised toner gives a lower page yield ratio. ECO Brand uses Polymerised toner in all colour cartridges. Particle size is uniform which means less waste toner.
Quantity of Toner powder on board.
Some third party toners put less toner into the cartridge. Tests reveal some toners give 30% lower yield than the original Brand. ECO Brand in many cases gives higher page yield than original brand.
Drum / Component Age.
Reused or older components do not work as efficiently in the charging or recovery of toner powder leading to more waste.
The only way to compare cartridges is the ISO test. Since people print a wide range of file types, the page count can vary dramatically. The stated page yield on mono toners is based on the ISO test page which uses a 5% page coverage printed continuously. eg only 5% of the paper has toner on it and the printing is non stop , not 1 - 5 pages start / stop as in normal use.
Not all toner brands are the same
15% more pages than original
up to 30% less pages than orignial
POLVERISED
V
Toners are micron scale polymer particles
Polverised Toner under microscope
Polverised Toner print out
Duller image
Polverised Toner also known as Conventional Toner or Mechanical Toner : Advantage: Cheapest to produce Disadvantage: Quality lower Toner is produced by the creation, then pulverization of a lump of ingredients. Toner particles are produced when plastic materials are heated to melting point and are then cooled down, hit against a wall and crushed by a strong air current. Particle shape is irregular and difficult to control and particle distribution is wide. Charging of the toner particles is also irregular due to varied particle sizes. Waste toner is higher and page yield ratio is lower.
Polverised Vs Polymerized
Polverised Toner Production
Chemical Toner
ECO Advanced colour cartridges use higher spec. Chemical toner. Many competitors use polverised toner.
Vs
POLYMERIZED
constructed of several kinds of resin, pigment, wax, etc.
More vibrant colour
Polymerized Toner print out = sharper
Polymerized Toner under microscope
Chemical Produced Toner ( CPT ) also known as Polymerized Toner:: Advantage: Best quality and most consistent, Lower fusing temperature = faster printing Disadvantage: Most expensive to produce Instead of grinding large millimetre sized particles into small sizes for conventional toner, the chemically produced colour toners particles are prepared by attaching (aggregating) lots of nano particles together. Minute resin particles are combined with colour pigments in a chemical reaction to produce toner particles. Many CPT products are micro encapsulated or encapsulated. The particles produced have a core/shell structure. Particle size is smaller and rounded and distribution is narrow. Charging of the toner particles is more stable and consistent. Less waste toner is produced and the page yield ratio is higher. On the environmental front, the production of CPT is “greener as compared to the pulverized process. It is estimated that CPT process consumes about 30% less energy and could potentially reduce the overall carbon footprint and environmental impact.
ECO Advanced Chemical Toner Production
DONGLE GEARS A number of Hewlett Packard ( HP ) cartridges use a dongle gear. The Patent on that dongle gear is owned by Canon. These dongle gear patents are protected and enforced by Canon against infringing new build designs and remanufacrtued cartridges that reuse the gear. Canon’s lawsuits involve patents on gear mechanisms based on a “twisted gear”. ECO brand toners use a more expensive new build patent free / patent clean gear, designed to not infringe Canon’s patents. Many if not most third party toners sold are at risk of infringing Canon patents which may lead to lengthy and expensive legal action being taken. The twisted gear is uniquely designed so the cartridge can be easily inserted into and removed from a printer. It also synchronizes and secures the drum with the printer during the imaging process. This mechanism connects the OPC drum (or developer roll in a colour printer) to the printer. The movable joint allows for easy insertion and removal of the cartridge while providing a smooth driving force to rotate the drum or roll. The parts incorporated into the design are called “dongle gears,” Components 180–182 are contained in the printer. Pin 182 engages Part 150d of the “universal joint” 150. This in turn engages Pin 155. Parts 145–155 are contained, and constrained, in the cartridge. It can be seen that coupling 150 is free to “flop around” before insertion of the cartridge, leading to the term “dongle.” Components 153 and 155 and the way that they engage coupling 150 are covered in the patents and are central to Canon suit even if 150 is reused.
ENVIRONMENTAL ECO Advanced saved thousands of cartridges from going into landfill as our product is remanufactured from recycled cartridges.
• Reman: 100% remanufactured from used original cartridges. • New Build: Made up of 25 - 30% recycled materials. • Hybrid: Mix of remanufactured, new and recycled materials.
ECO Advanced uses Polymerised toner in it’s colour cartridges.
• Polymerised toner uses around 30% less energy to produce. • Most other brands use Pulverised or Mechanical Toner which is lower quality & cheaper but uses greater energy to produce.
ECO Advanced cartridges print more efficiently.
• • • •
Particle size is smaller and rounded and distribution is narrow. Charging of the particles is more stable and consistent. Less waste toner is produced and the page yield ratio is higher. Resulting in more vibrant colour, sharper images and lower bad print outs. Polymerised
Pulverised
Most ECO Advanced cartridges print more pages than the stated yield of the original brand. Many online toners
• More pages from each ECO Advanced brand cartridge translate into less cartridges being used and less landfill. • Did you know that many online toners produce less pages than the original brand.
Less Page Yield
Some Manufacturers use waste toner to manufacture their cartridges.
• Waste toner is used to claim an environmental benefit but poor fusing, poor quality and higher waste toner give lower page yields and translate into higher cartridge use and more landfill.
ECO Advanced = Smarter & Greener Printing.
