ANIMAL BUILDING BLOCKS

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, MARINA, OCSA, & SEGERSTROM KIWIN’S On Sunday, January 14, 2018, Marina KIWIN'S teamed up with the Segerstrom, OSCA, and Fountain Valley KIWIN'S clubs in order to make animal building blocks, which will be donated to the local Boys and Girls Club in honor of the major emphasis, Live 2 Learn. There was a delicate procedure to make these important building blocks. First of all, animal cutouts were cut off of a paper. Then, the cutout was glued onto a set of building blocks, built into the shape of the animal. After the glue dried up, members used a blade to diligently cut up the blocks, trying not to break the animal cutout that was glued on top of the blocks. This made a finished product for the children to build, enhancing on their thinking skills. Besides making animal blocks, members also made math flashcards, helping them learn how to do basic math. Overall, this was a fun event that truly benefited the children of the community.

3V3 BASKETBALL CHARITY TOURNAMENT MICHAEL NGUYEN - EDISON HS Edison KIWIN’S hosted an exciting 3 on 3 Charity Basketball Tournament on January 13th. There were approximately 9 teams entered into the Tournament and we had a large amount of spectators. Teams entered in by paying $20 for each team and each spectator had to pay $1. Johnny Kwok, our fearless leader, organized all the teams into three seeds. He seperated all of us to our designated groups and we quickly started our first round of games. The games were very intense and serious because both teams desperately wanted to win. You could hear the sound of the basketballs slamming into the ground repeatedly. As someone who played, these basketball games were extremely physical and rough because of the competitiveness of the other players. As the games for seeding goes through, we head out into the playoffs. The playoffs is a double elimination type game because we still want everybody to have a good time and a good chance at winning. All the teams began to go to their designated court and started their basketball games. The air was tense and the faces of the basketball players were serious. Every single player in all the games tried their very best to win these games. The prize is a cash money prize and also a beautiful basketball trophy! When the games finished, we took pictures of the three top teams of the basketball tournament and gave away their prizes for winning.
