Coach Maturi is celebrating his 12th season at Jesuit and his 37th year in coaching. In addition to his football responsibilities, Maturi is an assistant athletic director tasked with the maintenance of the indoor and outdoor facilities at Jesuit.

Coach Maturi attended Harding University, where he was a four-year letterman for the football program. Maturi began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Harding before a stint at Memphis Harding Academy. A long-time coach in the Metroplex, Maturi coached at Lake Highlands, Bishop Lynch and McKinney ISD before arriving at Jesuit.
Maturi and his wife Jana have three daughters: Haley, Molly, and Jami, and have two grandsons: Luke, and Zachary.

Slechta enters his third season mentoring the high-powered Jesuit Dallas offense, arriving at Jesuit in 2019 after nine seasons as associate head coach and offensive coordinator at Wylie H.S.
Last year, the Jesuit Dallas offense ranked ninth in the area in points per game (44.5), 10th in passing (262.0 ypg) and 11th in total offense (446.3 ypg). Hunter Krepp ’22 was named the District Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and Gage Roy ’22 finished the season ranked sixth in the area with 2,714 passing yards.
Throughout his 25-year career, Slechta has coached at the high school and collegiate level. He held his first position at West Texas A&M as the quarterbacks and receivers coach from 1992-97, helping the Buffaloes led the nation in total offense, passing, and scoring in 1994. Slechta also worked at Dalhart, Gainesville, Tascosa, Newman Smith and Sherman before arriving in Wylie. The Pirates captured the program’s first Class 6A bi-district title in 2018, advanced to the state semifinal in 2010, state quarterfinal in 2013, regional semifinal in 2015 and also picked up bi-district titles in 2012 and 2014.
Slechta graduated from West Texas A&M in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in education with certifications in kinesiology, history, and health. He added a master’s degree in health and physical education in 1994 before beginning his professional career. Coach Slechta lives in the Metroplex with his wife Carrie and daughter Sybil.

appearances. Woods, a two-time state championship coach and 2018 National Football Foundation Assistant High School Coach of the Year, begins his fourth season as defensive coordinator at Jesuit Dallas.
Jesuit’s defense ended the 2020 regular season with three straight shutouts, blanking Berkner, 51-0, Irving, 53-0 and Richardson, 42-0 during a run that saw the Rangers hold their final five opponents to a combined 17 points. Robert Fitzgerald ’22 was named the Defensive MVP of District 7-6A, and earned TSWA All-State honors.
Prior to his arrival at Jesuit, Woods was the defensive coordinator at Highland Park. During Woods’ seven seasons coaching the Scots, he coached 19 all-state selections and won state titles in 2016 and 2017. Woods’ career also included stops at Rockwall Heath, Mesquite John Horn and Lake Highlands. Throughout his career, Woods has coached teams to five state final four
Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history and physical education from Austin College in 1981, Woods earned his master’s degree in education in 1982 while beginning his career as a graduate assistant for the ‘Roos during the program’s 1981 NAIA co-national championship season. Don and his wife, Elizabeth, have two sons: Clayton and Austin, who is married to the former Madeline Millender.

CHARLIE DELONG • ASSISTANT COACH • DEFENSIVE LINE
Coach DeLong enters his 42nd season at Jesuit Dallas, mentoring defensive linemen and defensive backs while also serving as the varsity equipment manager.
DeLong is the head soccer coach at Jesuit Dallas, a perennial state power that has won 14 TCIL State Championships alongside UIL titles in 2010 and 2017. Jesuit’s historic 2010 UIL State Championship marked the first time that a private school captured a state title in a sport offered by the UIL. DeLong earned his 600th career win as a head coach on Feb. 4, 2020 when the Rangers picked up a 1-0 win over Plano.
Born in Iowa, DeLong received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and resides in Dallas with his wife, Diana.
DAN HAVERKAMP • ASSISTANT COACH • WIDE RECEIVERS


Haverkamp enters his second season at Jesuit. Last season, Jesuit’s receiving corps racked up 2,995 yards and 31 touchdowns, led by Hunter Krepp ’22, who was named the District Offensive Newcomer of the Year. Haverkamp arrived at Jesuit after serving as the head coach at Bishop Fenwick High School, where he secured a 14-8 record and led the Falcons to the program’s second playoff win since 1992.
Haverkamp was named the Cincinnati Area Division III Coach of the Year by The Cincinnati Enquirer in 2019 after his offense averaged a program record 390.9 yards per game. Haverkamp coached at Saint Xavier H.S. from 2013-18, winning a state title in 2016 and developing seven eventual college football student-athletes, including two quarterbacks who are currently playing in the Big Ten Conference.
Haverkamp graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 with a degree in operations management and minor in business analytics. He then earned his master’s degree in secondary education with a certification in integrated mathematics at Xavier University in 2013. In addition to his football duties, Haverkamp teaches math at Jesuit.

Hinton enters his 23rd season at Jesuit Dallas. In addition to his varsity football duties, Hinton serves on the track & field coaching staff. Coach Hinton will mentor a receiving corps that averaged 174.9 reception yards per game while scoring 22 touchdown receptions.
A native of Galveston, Texas, Hinton played football and ran track at Texas A&M Kingsville, where he ran the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and 100-meter dash.
Hinton and his wife, Elizabeth, have seven children.

RICK LEAL • JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH • DEFENSIVE LINE
Coach Leal will return to the sidelines this fall for his 27th season with the Jesuit Dallas football program. Last year, Leal led the Jesuit Dallas junior varsity squad to a 9-1 record and is 43-21 over the last seven seasons.
Born and raised in Pleasanton, Texas, Leal began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan University before stops at Blinn Junior College and Lees-McRae College paved his path to Jesuit Dallas. Leal attended Texas State University, where he played football for the Bobcats.
Leal and his wife, Jenni, have two children: Ryan and Aleia.

COREY POINTER • ASSISTANT COACH • RUNNING BACKS
Coach Pointer enters his 12th season at Jesuit Dallas, where he oversees the team’s running backs. Last season, all-district first team selection Jake Taylor ’21 finished his Jesuit career with a 1,021 yard season, leading a running game that scored 32 touchdowns on the year.
A 1994 graduate of Waxahachie High School, Pointer was a member of the Indians’ UIL 5A Football State Championship team in 1992. In addition, Pointer was a first-team all-state baseball player and was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft. Coach Pointer is also the junior varsity baseball coach at Jesuit.
Pointer has two children: Tyson and Brooklyn.
PATRICK RHATICAN ’09 • ASSISTANT COACH • TIGHT ENDS
Rhatican enters his first season at Jesuit Dallas, where he will serve in a dual role on the football coaching staff as tight ends coach and video coordinator. A 2009 graduate of Jesuit Dallas, Rhatican spent the last eight years as an assistant coach for Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. While serving as a member of the Tigers’ football coaching staff, Rhatican coached tight ends and the offensive line.
A former all-district selection at Jesuit, Rhatican played college football at Trinity, where he was a starting lineman, All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) selection, and won a SCAC Conference Championship in 2011.
BILLY THOMPSON • ASSISTANT COACH • LINEBACKERS

Beginning his ninth season on the sidelines for the Blue and Gold, Thompson teaches freshman English at Jesuit. Thompson has served as an integral part of a defensive unit that anchored the Rangers to seven bidistrict championships between 2012 and 2019, and a 2015 squad that shut out five opponents. Last year, Jesuit shut out its final three regular season opponents and held their final five opponents to a combined 17 points.
A college football teammate of Coach Hickman, Thompson was a defensive end and graduated from TCU before beginning his coaching career at W.T. White, Lovejoy and McKinney North. Thompson attended Dunwoody High School in Georgia.
Thompson and his wife, Kelly, are the parents of three children: Sydney, Zoe and Logan.
BOB WUNDERLICK ’84 • HEAD FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Wunderlick enters his 33rd season at Jesuit, serving as both varsity and freshman head coach during his tenure. Wunderlick was the head varsity coach for 14 seasons (1997-2010), posting an 81-66 record, winning three Texas Christian Interscholastic League (TCIL) State Championships (1997, 1998, 1999) and ushering the Rangers into the UIL. Wunderlick responded to the challenge with a 10-2 record and a share of the UIL District Championship, setting the tone for Jesuit’s impressive rise over the past 17 years.
Wunderlick coached several future Jesuit Dallas Hall of Fame inductees, including Brian Hall ’99, Omar Jenkins ’00, John Wall, Jr. ’03 and Reggie Stephens ’05. In addition, Wunderlick earned the Gold Ranger Award in 2015, an award designated for a former Jesuit letterman who has made significant contributions to the greater Jesuit Dallas community.
Earning a bachelor’s degree in English, Wunderlick graduated from The College of the Holy Cross in 1988. In addition to coaching, he teaches English at Jesuit Dallas. Wunderlick and his wife, Kathleen Sullivan Wunderlick have two children: Maggie and Bobby.
JOSE AQUINO • FRESHMAN COACH
Aquino enters his third season at Jesuit Dallas following a six-year stint as a theology teacher and football coach at Xavier High School in New York City.
A St. John’s University bachelor’s and double master’s degree recipient, Aquino led Xavier to the Varsity AA Catholic High School League Championship in 2015 along with league titles in 2014 and 2017. Aquino is the theology department chair at Jesuit.
DEAN EIKENBERG ’17 • FRESHMAN COACH
Eikenberg joins the freshman football staff this season and is a 2017 Jesuit Dallas alumni who is currently a member of the Alumni Service Corps.
A former Ranger football standout, Eikenberg was an all-district first team selection in 2016 and attended Baylor University, where he graduated with a bachelor of arts in sociology.
ANDREW DONDIS • FRESHMAN COACH
Dondis joins the Jesuit Dallas football staff for the 2021 season. An educator for 20 years, Dondis is beginning his 16th year at Jesuit as a math teacher. He is a former chair of the math department and spends time during the summer grading AP Calculus exams for The College Board. Dondis has lived in Richardson for the past 15 years with his wife Heather, son Alex, a Jesuit senior and four year member of the football team and his daughter Abby, an Ursuline sophomore.
SEAN GAVIN ’00 • FRESHMAN COACH
Gavin begins his 16th year coaching at Jesuit, and 14th on the football staff. In addition to his football duties, Coach Gavin is the assistant varsity coach for the Jesuit baseball team.
Gavin earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2008. In 2016, Gavin helped coach the baseball team to a state championship, helping the Rangers become the first private school to win a UIL baseball state title.
BILL HENLY • FRESHMAN COACH

Coach Henly enters his 50th year coaching high school athletes and his 17th year at Jesuit Dallas. Henly is a former AP history teacher at Jesuit and is also a varsity track coach.
In 2018, Henly coached Collin Lark ’19 to a state meet appearance in the pole vault. Lark finished fourth at state with a career-best leap of 16’6’’. Henly and his wife Lisa have three children; Danyelle, Grant and Billy.
RYAN MENARD • FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Menard enters his 18th season at Jesuit Dallas, where he also serves as the head wrestling coach. From 1984–88 Menard wrestled for the University of Nebraska Omaha, an NCAA Div. II program. Menard graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in social science.
During his time at Jesuit Dallas, the Ranger wrestling program has seen eight grapplers qualify for state, 18 Rangers win individual district championships, and 66 regional qualifiers. Coach Menard lives in Dallas with his two sons.
MATTHEW UPTON ’02 • FRESHMAN COACH ROBERT WILLIAMS • FRESHMAN COACH
Upton begins his fifth year at Jesuit, where he serves as a math teacher, rugby head coach, and freshman football coach. Jesuit’s rugby program finished the 2021 season undefeated and won the Rugby Texas Single School State Championship.
In 2017, Upton was named to the Jesuit Sports Hall of Fame following a stellar collegiate and professional rugby career. Upton currently resides in Dallas with his wife, Daniela, and daughter, Charlotte. Coach Williams is a member of the Jesuit Dallas football and track and field coaching staffs. In addition, Williams is a physical education teacher and a member of the community service department.
Born and raised in Galveston, Williams attended Baylor and played football for the Bears before becoming a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Dallas Cowboys.
