Climate & Usage
Sunny Day The sun is out and it’s playtime! As some children hastily climb onto the knits, others cheekily shake the structure while other children are in it for a small tease! The structure bounces up and down, joining them on their little adventures, matching the energy level our little inhabitants display.
Windy Day On a breezy day, the wind becomes our children’s playmate! The interior knit catching the breeze causes the structure to sway from side to side. On some days, it might even fall! But the structure holds up even when it is laid on its side, so we won’t have to worry if our children choose to play with it that way!
Rainy Day It’s raining, get inside quickly! Our knits will shielding our little inhabitants from the cold, but they would still be able take a peek at the mesh envelope and capture the sight of water droplets being trapped in the porous surface or take a glance at the caustic effect cast onto the ground.
Cold Night Night time, everyone! Let our children take a rest inside the knits so that they will not catch a cold out here. If they choose to sleep on the knits, that is alright. The sun has warmed the yarn up sufficiently during the day, and it will take all night for the knits to cool down.
Atmospheric Renders The playful, buoyant structure provides a safe and resilient playground for children while catering for their innate sense of wonder -- at the same time provoking their curiosity as the structure goes through many changes during different climatic situations. The resultant project is one that aims to break the monotonous, assumptive nature of how we perceive.

Massing Diagrams
1
Starting off occupying the entire site, the area proves to be immense in size.
2
3
Restricted by the narrow size, a vertical relationship can be formed with the neighbouring HDB blocks as the space can be better utilised building upwards.
5
4
Connecting the towers on a common level to possibly encourage synergy from different user groups.
Shifting of blocks to form cantilevers, while also creating interesting inbetween spaces overlooking each other.
Breaking up the spaces to form smaller more intimate areas for program -- as blocks shift there can also be a relationship between the structure and the park connector, leading users in.

Conceptual Models
The project focused heavily on the polarities of “Clean” & “Dirty” represented in the models below -- They attempt to define this set of polarity in terms of spatial qualities.
“Rag&Flag: Costumes”
Concept Sketches Funk Style Dance Scene: Against the backdrop of a school setting, the first scene is the brightest and the cheeriest, setting up the energy levels of the entire performance on a high note. The design therefore incorporate bright vivid colours and is inspired by school uniforms.
Contemporary Style Dance Scene: The mood dips to a more somber tone -- set against a monotonous background and coupled with large, sweeping dance moves, the resultant design incorporates flowing fabric in an eye popping colour to allow the dancers to stand out more.
