RIBBON SEW UP Richmond, Metro Vancouver RIVER TEA TABLE Furniture StudioHonduras is a Central American country that is often hit by hurricanes. The complex gangs in the area make the country's crime rate among the highest in the world. However, the Casa Blanca community is regarded as the last pure land in this area, where people did not choose to join any gangs. Residents in this community want to have a safe place to protect themselves and their families.
We focus on the most serious problems on the site: floods, crime, and poverty. Therefore, we design escape routes, floating islands, and refuges to protect people from floods or violence. Besides, to achieve self-sufficiency of the community, the design provides the raised farmland and livestock space in the community for residents to produce crops, vegetables, fruits, meats, etc. Moreover, people can also sell agricultural products and handmake products to others through the renewed commercial corridor. The last pure land will be preserved in this way and becomes a sustainable and safe community.

The U District is a bustling hub, home to a dynamic mix of work, study, and residential life. Despite its vibrancy, University Ave faces a pressing challenge: the scarcity of green spaces. The existing green areas are either too small or too distant from the Ave, leading to underutilization. Furthermore, the rapid construction of new towers is reducing ground-level space even more.
To address this issue, our project introduces an innovative solution: elevating greenery to rooftops. By harnessing the potential of upper spaces, we aim to infuse the U District with vital green elements. This initiative not only expands the community's access to green spaces but also enhances the district's aesthetics with lush, green vistas. Moreover, by increasing green coverage, we contribute to mitigating the urban heat island effect, making the U District a cooler, more pleasant place to live, work, and study.

The photos of UNIVERSITY AVE show barely green by the sidewalks, no rooftop gardens, narrow streets, and buildings squeezed close to each other. There's a big need for more space for both greenery and people.

In the heart of Gulou District, Fujian Province, where cities grow fast and green spaces are hard to find. People living here face many problems: they don’t get enough time outdoors, they’re too caught up with their phones and screens, there’s not enough room or facilities for fun outdoor activities, stress is high from work and school, and it feels unsafe to go out at night.
Red Ribbon steps in as a fresh breath of air. It’s designed for Gen Z and all who’ll come after, changing gray and boring city areas into lively places with sports fields, places to hang out, and top-notch sports spots for all ages. But Red Ribbon is about more than just having fun outside; it’s about making sure everyone can join in. It has a special play area for kids and older folks with safe, fun equipment. It’s a place where families can come together, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
Red Ribbon is all about bringing people together, making it easier to talk, play, and be healthy. It’s a response to city life’s challenges, offering a safe, welcoming place for everyone to relax, meet up, and have a good time.

Richmond's roots are deeply embedded in agriculture, but as the city has modernized, much of its farmland has been cut up by major roads and bridges. This change has left some communities feeling disconnected and led to the neglect of once-thriving agricultural lands. Recognizing these challenges, the design strategy aims to tackle both environmental issues and social disconnection. The project plan to rejuvenate the area with a focus on agricultural themes, creating a series of engaging spaces to encourage community interaction and rekindle an interest in farming. The vision is to weave these elements into a green, productive corridor, transforming Richmond into a model for post-industrial, agrarian urban living.
Richmond's history is rootedin fishing, agriculture, shipping, aviation, and later in manufacturing, service and technological industries. The island of Richmond was built and shaped by the Fraser River.
