• The work is intended to accompany a slide show of notable women from history.

• As the loop plays, choir members will read quotes from the women shown in the slides.

• The refrain is to be performed after approximately six such quotes/slides.

• After all quotes/slides have been completed the refrain is to be sung a final time, leading into the coda.

Program Notes

Women of Vision was written for the First Unitarian Church of Portland and Associate Music Director John Boelling, who invited me to create music for accompany a slideshow featuring images of important women throughout history. I thought the concept was beautiful and wanted to write a piece that would complement the inspirational message of the slides and the quotes by each woman. I am honored to help celebrate these women’s contributions to our society and our culture!
