In the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where the ridgelines meet the sky, stands a property that transcends the traditional definition of home. 81 Stillmont Circle is a collectible work of architecture, a masterwork of mountain modernism designed by the legendary James Howard Fox. Guided by the principles of organic architecture, Fox did not simply place a house upon the land. He allowed it to emerge from the landscape itself.
Commissioned in 1974 by J.J. and Ethelwynn Asbury, this 4.78-acre legacy estate remains entirely irreplaceable in today’s building environment. The main residence has recently undergone a meticulous restoration completed under the guidance of Jim Fox himself during the twilight of his distinguished career, preserving the architectural integrity and original vision of the home.
The result is a residence of extraordinary provenance and authenticity, where glass, timber, and stone dissolve the boundary between structure and nature.
