JESS Design Week 2nd – 6th November 2026

Unleashing Creativity JESS Design Week is back for its fourth year, scheduled from 2nd to 6th November, 2026. Building on the remarkable success of last year's event, we are returning with an even more extensive schedule of events. This year's lineup includes the thrilling Formula 1 Ethara Racing, a stunning Trashion Show, captivating staff and student design competitions, and the highly sought-after community design workshops. Get ready for an unforgettable week of creativity and innovation!

Design and Technology is about providing opportunities for students to develop their capability, combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding in order to create quality products. #MAKINGADIFFERENCE

Community Design Workshop Year 7 students and their parents are invited, as part of the broader JESS community, to join us in the Design and Technology department at 3.40pm on Wednesday 4th November for a one-hour design workshop. Community workshops were a big hit last year and, though we've increased our capacity this year, available slots are limited. To secure your spot, and avoid disappointment, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Design and make a small wooden coaster using traditional Japanese methods. This workshop was inspired by the JESS Design and Technology trip to Japan. Students will work alongside parents to assemble different types of wood to create unique patterns.

Trashion Show In 2025, the JESS House Trashion Show was a great success, with students from across the school demonstrating their creativity in using recycled materials, ‘trash’, to develop different items of clothing. Throughout the month of October, students have been submitting their designs with the representative from each house showcasing their creation during JESS Design Week.

F1 Racing Our Year 7 F1 Ethara teams get their competitive juices flowing as they get the opportunity to race their very own F1 car down our 25m track at speeds of up to 75km/h. The competitive action does not end there, we also see our staff race taking place. Can Mr. Musleh retain the title for the Biology department 3 years running?

Abu Dhabi Trip Both the Design and Technology and Art students across Year 10 and Sixth Form will visit the Abu Dhabi Cultural District to experience the three museums; The Louvre, the Natural History Museum, and the Zayed National Museum. The trip will help to inspire the students as they prepare for their GCSE and IB coursework, which will begin next term for IB and in Term 3 for GCSE.

Sign up Community Design Workshop sign-up opens at 7:00pm on Thursday 29th October on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation of your placement will be sent out by Monday, 2nd November.
