Tonya Renee Campbell was born on October 27, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Joyce Toney Oliver and Alfred Leon Campbell.

Tonya confessed her belief and faith in the Lord at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Floyd White, where she was also baptized. It was there that she gained her strong sense of moral principles and refined grace, which she carried into every place and space throughout her life. She later united with Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in 2016, where she was a very faithful member until her transition.

Tonya graduated from Whitehaven High School, Class of 1989, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Strayer University. She worked with Auto Zone Corporate Commercial as a Credit Customer Service Relations Manager.

Tonya R. Campbell, “The Queen and Fighter,” transitioned to the eternal presence of the Lord on Tuesday morning, January 14, 2020. She was preceded in death by her paternal Grandparents, Wesley and Jessie Helen Campbell, her maternal Grandfather, James Toney, her uncles, Raymond Toney and Wesley Campbell, and her cousin Marlon Keith Toney.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her beautiful children, Brandon Campbell and Briasha Rivers; father, Alfred Campbell, mother, Joyce Toney Oliver, brother, Darrell Campbell of Minneapolis, MN, three sisters, Pamela Campbell, Yolanda (Rod) Thompson, and Shenika Campbell, grandmother, Christine Toney, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…”

I’m no longer by your side, but there’s no need to weep; I’ve left sweet recollections I’m hoping you will keep. Eternal joy and memories stay in our hearts forever, Strengthening our special bond that parting cannot sever. Now it’s time to journey on, so let your faith be strong, For I am in a better place….. I’m home where I belong. And if times of loneliness bring sorrow and dismay, Don’t despair, for I am there….. Just a Memory Away.
