Robert Lee Clay, Sr.

was born November 27, 1927, to the late Luther and Willie (Baskin) Clay, in Itta Bena, Mississippi.

Robert was a devoted husband, father, friend, and great listener. He was a person you could come to for advice, comfort, and support. He would turn your frown into a smile with his sweet presence and loving personality.

Robert was united in holy matrimony to a woman with a heart of gold and unconditional love. A woman who was a devoted and caring wife. The woman who stole his heart was the love of his life and was Adlean Clay.

Robert departed this life on August 4, 2017, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee at 1:44 A.M. He leaves to cherish his life, seven children; Robert L. Clay, Jr., Tommie E. Clay, Kenneth M. Clay, Travis J. Clay, Lemtra J. Clay, Carolyn D. Stewart (Chester), and Vicki L. Clay; one sister, Hattie Blumenberg; he joined two children (Anthony R. Clay and Terry B. Clay), three brothers; Luther Clay, Jr., Cornelia Clay, Tommie Clay, one sister, Christeena Williams in Heaven; seventeen grandchildren; Tolkila D. Jarrett, Donnatta J. Clay, Robert Lee Clay, III, Twala R. Brooks, Shanita S. Brooks, Henry Clay, Tasha Clay, Carla Lofton, Sharla Clay, Kimberly Brooks, Ke’Shauna A. Robinson, De’Shawn L. Clay, Kristen B. Stewart, Tiffany Clay, Sabrina Clay, Angela Clay, Travis J. Clay, Jr. and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
