Roan Lloyd Gardner, Jr.

the first of four sons born to the union of Roan Lloyd and Latoria Evetta Gardner, was born October 16, 1992 in Memphis, Tennessee. The nickname “Cooper Lee” was given to him at birth in honor of his father’s friend, Cooper Lee.

Coop and his brothers, Nick, Shad, and Timothy, attended Alpha Church Congregation of the Temples of the Living God with their grandparents, Deacon Robert and Missionary, then later, Elder Floyda Wheeler.

Roan Gardner attended Horn Lake Elementary and Maceo Walker Middle School in Memphis, Trezevant Middle School in Frayser. He graduated in 2011 from Bolton High School in Bartlett. He completed forklift training and received his certification in 2015. He loved installing electronic systems in cars. His favorite color was purple.

Roan’s greatest joy in life were his two sons, Roan Lloyd Dorris, (mother Dashema Dorris) and Elijah Roan Gardner (mother Sammetria Moore).

In addition to his sons, he leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Latoria Gardner; his father, Roan (Linda) Gardner, Sr. ; his three brothers, Nicholas Floyd of Atlanta, Georgia, Stefen Rashad, and Timothy Skylar Gardner; grandparents Robert and Floyda Wheeler, grandfather Frank Gardner of Jamaica; uncles Gregory (Kamisha) Kelly, Peter (Brenda) Gardner of Georgia, and Wesley (Andrea) Gardner of Florida; aunts Cathy (Raul) Gardner of Cayman Islands and Sandy Gardner of Florida; great aunts, and a host of cousins and friends.

When you left it broke my heart

For us to be so far apart.

But we must understand

We will be happy in the promise land.

It broke my heart to see you go

But we will be next, you never know.

If we love and trust God above, We will always have His love.

Dear Roan, I can’t say goodbye to you I will just say, so long

We will together and happy

When we meet at God’s throne.
